    agreed.
i don't mind a few shared songs, tho usually i am not that interested in such - it could be quite cool with bruce - but not an opener, and PLEASe...definitely not a shared billing! but yea, really....that wouldn't be the case as we would have to know about it before purchasing tickets. we bought tix to see pearl jam. with a special guest.....but a special guest is just that, a guest, not the headliner.
    Stay with me...
    Let's just breathe...

I'd rather see Alice in Chains show up as the special guest. Since they have a new album out in September also and are touring...would be cool to see an all grunge show.

AS much as I love AIC, I have no intention of seeing them post-layne.

It would be like seeing Pearl Jam fronted by someone else. Or without Stone. Or Jeff. Or Mike

Actually, the only spot where PJ could change is drummer. If any of the 4 were to leave....it just woulndt be the same.

I can't believe that two people in this thread wouldn't want to see a Bruce/PJ double bill.

The man is a legend, and with all due respect to Pearl Jam, he is as good as it gets when it comes to putting on a live performance. With all the discussion about three hour performances, it's interesting to note that, at 59 years young, Springsteen and the E-Street Band still regularly deliver 3+ hour shows. They kill it each and every night, always throwing in some rarities and mixing up the setlist (albeit less so on their current tour than previous ones... but I digress).

The opportunity to see both of them, on the same night, would be pure musical ecstasy. But hey, that's just my two cents...

why should bruce get their own 2 shows and PJ have to share? i wouldnt mind to hear a couple duets but not a double bill...that would cut into PJ's playing and if u think the concert would start at 6pm to allow both bands 2.5 hrs of playing you're smoking too much grass

    Yes I agree.
In my opinion It's not Alice In Chains without Layne, he was the most important part of that band really, also he named the band, they should change the name of the band atleast.

    make it 3.

Bruce = shorter PJ set. I got enough of that in Toledo in 2004 when Neil showed up and Ed basically left the stage. no thanks.

for those of us who think PJ is the pinnacle, other artists can only bring them down.

while we're on the subject, I really hope Ben Harper does not open Chicago or Philly. I'll sit through him once in San Diego. that's more than enough.

I'll take AIC. seen them several times post-Layne and they put on a solid show. yes, we know, its not Layne, but Jerry is the heart and soul of AIC.

I love the speculation around here. Every single festival around the world...someone here heard a rumor Pearl Jam is playing it. Everytime an artist that PJ or Eddie has said they liked at some point is playing with 150 miles of Pearl Jam, there is a rumor Ed will be making an appearance. Now just because Bruce Springsteen has a few off days, he is suddenly going to bring his whole setup and band back to the Spectrum just 2 weeks after previously playing there. And he is going to open for Pearl Jam. Do you guys ever read what you are typing before hitting post?

To each his own I guess. I am not a big fan of Bruce at all and I wouldn't enjoy seeing him play with PJ. That said, I would never say that Bruce "blows" ...

Just my 2 cents but if Bruce should appear it would be solo for a song or two. Ed sang a couple with the E Street Band in the past and as the last venue show in his (Bruce's) backyard, its possible. Many PJ fans rocked out with Bruce many years before alot of you were even born and PJ wasn't a band. I view it as a plus rather than a minus.

    make it 3.

    Make that four.

I hear Bruce is great live, but I have zero interest in seeing him. I've tried to get into him, and I just can't.

I have no strong feelings about the opening act, but I bought tickets to see PJ, not "Pearl Jam plus very special guests."

yea someone whose done a world tour every year since 03. Actually sells out arena's unlike pearl jam, can sell out stadiums in matter of minutes. Even plays the south unlike pearl jam does. Yea that's an artist that blows. I love people that talk outta there ass on here.

Bruce doesn't open up for people its the other way around and bruce doesn't have opening acts to begin with.
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight

Doesn't Nickelback sell out arenas too? Frankly, I don't think the size of venue a band is capable is a fair measure of their talent. After all, Tommy Emmanuel and Leo Kottke rarely play venues bigger than an average church.

Sure Nickelback sells out arenas but Bruce has been doing it for 20-30 years. That is pretty damn impressive.

    this thread is living proof
opinions are like assholes , everyones got one.

nickleback or even alice in chains ( with or without the layne guy ) cant even come close to the same stratosphere as Bruce, in fact they couldnt even come close.
    Theres a reason he's called " the boss " .
He is an Amercian legend and icon .,
He has more stamina than most of his younger counterparts ( if you want to call them that )
He still has relevance and longevity , even after all these years.
He heads a band, & he has a vast solo catalogue .
He has influenced many many of todays current artists .
Lets not even go into record sales and watchout if you're talking concert sales/ sellouts.
Absolutely no stagehow ( unlike U2 ) just the man and his band.

Just ike with Pearl Jam, some people get it , and some dont.

To say he blows , even if you dont care for his music or whatever ,
is just ignorant, and says alot about ones self ,
    its your loss.
For the ones who had a notion, a notion deep inside
That it ain't no sin to be glad you're alive
