nowadays hits you when you're young
i hung up, she called back, i hung up again
the process had already started
at least it happened quick
I swear, i died inside that night
my friend, he called
I didn't mention a thing
the last thing he said was, "be sound"
sound...
I contemplated an awful thing, i hate to admit
I just thought those would be such appropriate last words
but i'm still here
and small
so small.. how could this struggle seem so big?
so big...
while the palms in the breeze still blow green
and the waves in the sea still absolute blue
but the horror
every single thing i see is a reminder of her
never thought i'd curse the day i met her
and since she's gone and wouldn't hear
who would care? what good would that do?
but i'm still here
so i imagine in a month...or 12
I'll be somewhere having a drink
laughing at a stupid joke
or just another stupid thing
and i can see myself stopping short
drifting out of the present
sucked by the undertow and pulled out deep
and there i am, standing
wet grass and white headstones all in rows
and in the distance there's one, off on its own
so I stop, kneel
my new home...
and I picture a sober awakening, a re-entry into this little bar scene
sip my drink til the ice hits my lip
order another round
and that's it for now
sorry
never been too good at happy endings...

Fuck this song just gives me the chills.

    i had a poetry project in my video production class...we had to make a video about a poem...and i knew about this project ahead of time and had the perfect story and everything using this song...i asked my teacher if its ok if i had a recording of the poem and he said yeah...so i storyboard my idea for it, show him the lyrics (for censorship) and the damn line "i had an aweful thought, i hate to admit" (paraphrase) fuckin ruined it...a lot of people had been doing kind of solomn movies with somewhat suicidal themes and my teacher was sick of it so he canned my whole idea...and that line was going to be my money shot too...

    imagine, this...

    an unfinished basement, and a guy/kid on a bed with no sheets on and no frame. he's sitting up off the side of the bed holding a picture frame and he's staring at it (it's his now ex girlfriend) then it hits that one line and all of a sudden, fades in a faded image of the guy/kid in a noose dangling from the ceiling...

    the faded image represents his thoughts...it was going to appear a couple times in the video...

    i really want to make this video and i'm not even in the class anymore...i just need final cut on my computer...damn money

    well i just graduated and got a boat load of money...so i'm putting that towards a new mac computer fully equipped with Final Cut that i'm using for videos only...so i'll make it this summer...

    i'll definitely show all of you guys when it's done

    Great song ... I always thought, if Eddie would sing the lyrics, this song could probably get bigger than Black. Glad he didn't ... it's perfect the way it is.

    it was a cut from some foreign b-side...don't know exactly which one...even though it's a PJ release, i think it's technically an ed solo track

    No, no, no.

    This song has never ever been released anywhere in the world. It remains only an internet leak. It was a complete lie when it was packaged with the Lost Dog's leak when it said Japanese Promo Release or something like that. You CANNOT buy Lost Dogs in Japan and get this song. The Japanese version of Lost Dog's is just like the US release of Lost Dogs.
