but I suspect this is part of a similar deal to that with Target in the US for the retail distribution of their album. HMV distribute the album, the band gets to do a warm up show and HMV get the kudos of having tickets for sale fora PJ gig which encourages fans to buy the album in advance through the website.

I agree, but PJ are big enough to sort this out themselves. If NIN can do it, then so can PJ.

Nice to know that the O2 network might get some tickets for their own pre-sale thingy - they came through for me with FNM recently. I'll certainly be posting any links I get right here.

This only crossed my mind today! We've only had one show in 9 years. And there's probably only about 5, maybe 10, 10c members in Ireland!

Once again, thank you 10c for thinking of our little country!

I'm supposed to be on holiday in Wales at the time... would be a lot more travelling and money I don't really have...

    AHHHHH!

Feels like I might miss a huge opportunity here, but I am going to London/Manchester later.

I'd say there is more than that, hell there is 4 in my family alone  and I know more members who just don't post on here, some people are not fortunate enough (or mabe sad enough  ) to have jobs that allow them to sit on here half the day!!

I still reckon if rem can sell out 5 nights in the Olympia, pj could easily do the same...could you imagine that 8-)

Bring on the Lottery!! I'm feeling lucky. I won ten quid this week so 2 tickets to Pearl Jam will really round things off nicely
Or maybe you will have used up your 'luck quota' with that lottery win (even if it is only £10!). I'm in the same boat as you....

How did the Irish get in??? :?

The UK is actually the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

It was all of Ireland at one time until the partition of the country. I guess just too difficult from a tix point of view to 'split' ireland so the Republic benefits!

Bah. I still maintain that this show should be ticketed on a distance-from-venue basis. Entry into the venue too- those living within one mile in first, 3 minutes later those within 3 miles, and so on.

Sure this sales format will be open to the other Europeans... if we haven't completely obliterated the allocation already ;)

I like your way of thinking....

If you check out the blueroom, the gig is announced BUT they show pre-sale date of 23rd July which is general sales day!

but ONLY the UK has gotten 2 special, small venue shows....plus the taping of that jules holland show too. that was all i was sayin'. if they spread the love around a bit more over in europe, other countries get a special show or 2 here or there....i'd not have said a thing. to me, if there are so few 10c members in the rest of europe, couple that with the fact that the fans would have to plan the dates to travel, etc...that would be limiting how many europeans would even be trying in the first place, and i for one just thought it would be nice if they got a chance at 10c tix too. that is all.

and you said the UK probably has double the 10c members than the rest of the entirety of europe. THAT is a good comparison with the NE of the US. we have probably the BIGGESt contigent of 10clubbers, on the planet....but most definitely the US. there's lots of different ways to compare...;)

from a viewpoint of accessibility I prefer 2 'proper' shows to 2 'special' shows, since the chance of attending those is close to zero...and before this year the UK had only one 'proper' show in the last 9 years

and I said there are probably has AS many, not twice as many... ;)

again, I think every country in (western) europe had its fair share of shows if you take together 06, 07, 09...there's no reason to go nuts about one 3000 capacity show...
if you have a show like SBE in a place where PJ has a lower profile, people from the UK (or US) will end up flying there and making up a large share of the crowd anyway...so i guess it's just easier that way...and better for the environment...

Of course, the question is, how many tickets 10c have available to them?

They only offered 50 pairs for the Astoria, and a third of tickets went to 'the industry'. I reckon it'll be same deal this time.

    Mish mash mosh it'll be
2006 ░▒▓ Astoria, Dublin, Leeds, Reading, Lisbon, Paris, Verona, Athens
2007 ░▒▓ London, Dusseldorf, Copenhagen, Nijmegen
    2009 ░▒▓ Manchester, London
    2010 ░▒▓ Hyde Park

*§* Music is all the juice i'll need *§*

exactly...even if they offer 150 pairs (10% of venue capacity), chances to get tickets for this show trough 10c are close to zero...that's why I don't understand the fuss about not letting other europeans take part in this 10c sale...if it's really random lottery, and half of Europe's 10c members are in the UK+IRL, not more than 75 other europeans would be able to score a pair...now who thinks he or she would be one of them...? ;)

I'm your man. I can put the money for my ticket in your bank account as soon as you get it.

:D No problem. Have a strong feeling that I'll no be lucky this time around though.

There are various issues here that will throw-up varying points of view on the whole thing, and I'm gonna make some enemies here by saying this, but I think that it's right that (at least temporarily) the 10c should hold tickets for UK members only. It would be the same for the French if the show was in Paris, etc, etc.

I have been a member since 92 & read reports of 10c only shows in the States that date back to those early years. When originally joining the 10c, the idea of Fan Club only shows was something that helped cement the deal of joining-up - they were not promised, but they were hinted at. To this day we in the UK (and many other territories) have not had one. There are those, and I am one of them, that believe that the Astoria show should have been 10c only. Harsh maybe, but I think a just reward for those that have followed the band for many years & spent a lot of money on their goods. I feel the same about this SBE show.

The HMV pre-order will do nothing to get tickets into the hands of true fans, because you can pre-order the album to receive the link, and then cancel the order once you know if you have been successful or not. the touts will know this & will exploit this loophole. So will anyone else who wants to make a fast Buck (I suppose that should be Pound) on the night of the gig, just by going down to the venue & selling their ticket for a HUGE profit.

The 10c should have just opened-up this pre-sale to UK members first, allowing us to purchase either 1 or 2 tickets, and then on the second day, open the sale up to all 10c members. Hell, I'm not even sure if there are enough active 10c members in the UK who could fill the venue anyway. perhaps there are...

I guess we'll have to wait until Monday to see how the 10c pre-sale goes, and then the following day for the HMV pre-sale - and here my initial point in my first post still stands - the pre-sale for HMV takes place at 9am on Tues 21st, which is only hours after the PJ pre-sale. It is almost guaranteed that the confirmation of our ticket orders from the 10c will not get to us by 9am on Tuesday which will result in many of us trying for both sales, which will result in some people obtaining 4 tickets. I know they will find good homes here, but I feel that this could be done so much better & made it possible for more genuine & long-term fans to get tickets without the hassle of finding someone with a spare or 2. Other bands such as Nine Inch Nails manage to do this quite successfully.

Having said all that I have said, I wish everyone here good luck in obtaining tickets for what will surely be a superb show.

I pretty much agree with the above, I've been a TC member since 93 and apart from being guaranteed tickets to most UK shows I've never been able to make full advantage of my low TC number, in terms of seniority etc. Have to say I'd be devastated if I missed out on this gig.

    Cant believe people are complaining.

Australia has never ever ever ever had a show that even resembles intimate. They have never played a non-stadium venue here and probably never will. There have been countless Euro shows from the beginning of PJ time played in small clubs.

Size is everything and this will be one awesome show for those in the UK. Think yourselves lucky.

I hope the 10c members who have allready ordered Backspacer via PJ.com will be favoured when it comes to the lottery. Also those who live in London too! I have ordered the album via 10c as I always do but now having to order a second album from HMV to double my chances of this gig. I will end up with two albums perhaps which I am not keen on but if it gets me into that gig all the better. I really hope they do something similar in Europe for non UK members as be nice to share the love.
    :D Rock on!!!! :D
Seen Pearl Jam 4 times in London, once in Manchester, as well as an Eddie show at Hammersmith.
