Jerry Cantrell - Boggy Depot

I always like this album, but never listened to it much. I guess with the new Alice in Chains coming out, I've been on a Alice jag, and so this solo disc has been in that rotation, and it is REALLY fucking good. It has a good range of moods, tempos and styles. Plus, damn, a lot of the songs show Jerry has a real talent for songwriting.
So, take a listen to Boggy Depot by Jerry Cantrell.
If you already have, then, you're already with me, right?

totally agree. I had this album in constant rotation just this past February.0

my song is one of the best songs ever written. the main guitar riff is heavenly0

I never heard it. But I have Degradation Trip Vol 1&2 and it is stellar.0

I saw Jerry on tour with those albums and I have to say it was kickass seeing him in some really small venues. The man is talented.0

never in question! jerry has always been the real force in AIC 8-)Wolf At Bay wrote:Plus, damn, a lot of the songs show Jerry has a real talent for songwriting.
all of his solo work was stellar enough that i never desired an AIC reunion... but if thats what it takes to hear new jerry music then i wholeheartedly support it0 -
I like bogey depot. I probably like a number of songs on it more then i like it as a whole album though, but this is why i have faith in the new AIC being good. Jerry's solo stuff was good he never stopped writing good stuff.
To form an analogy everyone thought when dinosaur jr was coming back that the new dino stuff would suck. well if you followed J's career his solo stuff he had been working in in the early to mid 2000's was very good. So no surprise now they have let out two very good albums for that band.
anyway that is a bit off topic as for Bogey Depot some great stuff on there and My Song is a kick ass track!Charlotte 00 | Charlotte 03 | Asheville 04 | Atlanta 12 | Greenville 16 | Columbia 16 |Seattle 18 | Nashville 22 | Ohana Festival 24 x2 | Atlanta 25 x20 -
I didn't catch any of his solo tours, wish I had, because I doubt these songs will find their way into an Alice setlist. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.0

Such a great album, "Hurt a long time" is such a beautifully painful song. "My Song" is great too.Minneapolis 98, Chicago 00, San Fransisco 00, Fargo 03, Thunder Bay 05, St Paul 06 (night 2), Chicago 08 (EV) both nights
Don't it make you smile?0 -
I have it, but I haven't listened to it too much. I liked the shorter version of Degradation Trip more.
I'm glad he's writing more music though.

Yeah totally agree. Degradation Trip is good, but it can get a little lost in it's heaviness and darkness. Boggy Depot is a more well-executed endeavor.
Looking forward to the Alice club tour. Very cool0 -
