The Oregonian's music blog is looking for input, asking "Question for the masses: Who's THE American band? Who would we put up against England's best?"

Pearl Jam hasn't been mentioned yet.

    Nor should they.

    Like his music or not (or be indifferent, as I am to much of it), Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band are it.

    Don't think PJ ranks with the Beatles, Stones, and Zep. I'd say our best bets were pretty well covered... Dylan, CCR, Hendrix.
