What if Regina opened?

A great album came out yesterday called ‘far’. It’s by Regina Spektor and it got me thinking… Why not have her open for Pearl Jam in the US? For those who know her, there is the obvious Strokes/KoL connection to Pearl Jam. Plus, I was reading the new article about her in Spin and found out that she is good friends with Tom Petty’s daughter. After seeing Pearl Jam with Tom Petty three years ago next week, I feel that is another correlation between her and the band.

You might say that she isn’t the right type of artist to open for them, which is okay. She opened for the Kings of Leon and The Strokes before she really established herself outside of NY so I think she could handle it. Looking at Regina's current tour schedule she has shows in July and September with August currently open. Plus she’s got an amazing new album to support.

Here’s a taste for those of you who are interested:
‘Poor Little Rich Boy’ live from 2004 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GHNCX4UbD8
‘That Time’ live at Bonnaroo 2007 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOgBqHUPgO0

[sorry for not burying this thought in one of the other opening band threads or Gomez sticky.]
Why go, Animal?
Foxy Mop in my tree, no way.

I doubt Regina would be opening for Pearl Jam...but I'd buy that ticket for sure! Regina is my favorite female artist!

And no, she is anything but bad. Hard to say if she'd go well with the crowd or not...I'd definitely enjoy her opening!

I went to college w/ Regina @ SUNY Purchase. Saw her perform on campus many times, though I'm not a huge fan of hers, it's was pretty cool to see her rise to stardom.

She probably wouldn't go great for a Pearl Jam crowd or a crowd who is not there to see her. But the interaction between her and a crowd that is into her music and such, she's a treat to watch live.

Regina has opened up for The Strokes and has recorded with Kings Of Leon.
...good taste in music, for sure.... and certainly a PJ-friendly collection to be working with.
