OMG! is Matt Leaving...?

Well according to this vague article ( http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/ ) the guy from the band Shine Down states, "There's talk of a reuniting of Soundgarden in the States soon. I know actually someone specific who told me that, who is actually specifically in their organization. Kinda told me that they're talking about it.".
Could this article be more vague? Kinda reminds me of the onion.com Soundgarden post from a few years back... when they reunited to eat a cinna-bun.

grr... I scanned the first 2 pages... nothing.. But page 3. That damn page 3. Sorry. I just thought it was funny how it was some guy in another band that swears he "heard" something. An internet magazine then makes it their top news.Post edited by tkepearljamn on07-02-98, 10-11-00, 04-22-03, 04-23-03, 06-09-03, 06-10-03, 06-18-03, 06-21-03, 06-22-03, 10-02-04, 10-03-04, 10-05-04, 05-16-06, 05-17-06, 05-22-06, 06-24-06, 06-29-060

one thing is for sure... if you expect an official answer... don't look for it here.

haha.... We all know that for Pearl Jam news we need to rely heavily on radio dj's, VH1, rollingstone and any other media giant to tell us the up to the minute news about PJ... I can not remember the last time that the ten club or pj.com actually broke news to us.07-02-98, 10-11-00, 04-22-03, 04-23-03, 06-09-03, 06-10-03, 06-18-03, 06-21-03, 06-22-03, 10-02-04, 10-03-04, 10-05-04, 05-16-06, 05-17-06, 05-22-06, 06-24-06, 06-29-060 -
I am getting tired of the false assumption that because SG (hopefully) will be having a reunion, doesn't at all mean that Matt is leaving PJ. As though the PJ band members do not get enough free time to do other projects.0

They are assumptions but, if a reformation does occur, there is a possibility that he could be preoccupied for a while.
How's Scott Weiland doing in Velvet Revolver...ok, bad example, but you get my point.
But, I've always laid claim to the philosophy that he's just keeping Jack's seat warm.

Why can't he do both? It's not like Pearl Jam is on tour all the time? PJ has loads of downtime, If they're touring this year, it might leave room next year to play with Soundgarden?0

I wave to all my Friends... Yeah!0 -
I sure hope so...
Pre Matt = ten, vs, vitalogy, no code, yield...all great great albums...
Matt = Binaural - ok experimental disc, zero commercial success
Riot Act - Meh...LBC, Save you, All or none, a few high points, not a very good overall disc
Pearl Jam - Yikes
A new drummer to actually fit the bands sound would be a ok with me.0 -

Exxactly. There's no denying that trend. Even the band acknowledges it.0 -
I love Matt Cameron, he may very well have saved Pearl Jam, but if he leaves and we get Jackie back? Jack has always been my favorite PJ drummer, Matt is close, but the pitter pattter style of Jack just appeals to me.
I would only be excited in news of Matt leaving IF Jack was coming back, otherwise I would be fucking bummed.
Soundgarden reunion does not mean permanent or full time. Seriously the way PJ tours Matt could easily drum in two bands0 -
matt isn't going anywhere, though a shakeup would be exciting
love matt though, don't get me wrong.i have a paper here that entitles me to fast track status0 -
i'd be utterly depressed if matt left the band. i love dave, jack and matt's style of drumming in pj. but matt is BY FAR my favorite. his style AND personality just molds with the band so well. there is no doubt he is the definitive pj drummer and this is the definitive pj line-up.
and with all that said, matt is going nowhere. there is no way in hell he would leave the band. also, chris cornell has become such a different person personality-wise and musically. he's become a tool, despite his ability to still sing pretty damn good. soundgarden is my tied with incubus as my second favorite band behind pj. i would be THRILLED to see them. however, i want matt in pj. PJ is the present. soundgarden would NOT be what they used to be. 90% of that being because of what chris cornell has become. matt probably hates him now, just think about it. and an sg reunion would just be a big tour in the states, maybe a little something more. that would be awesome, and thats it.2006: Hartford
2008: MSG 1, Hartford, Mansfield 2, Ed Solo NYC 1
2009: London (O2), Philly 1, 2, 3, & 4
2010: Hartford, Boston, MSG 1 & 2
2011: Ed Solo Hartford
2012: Philly (MIA Fest)
2013: Worcester 2, Brooklyn 1 & 2, Hartford0 -
also, what some of you guys fail to notice is that matt cameron is not a fucking moron.
there is a LOT more money for him in pearl jam than there will be in any other musical project he partakes in for the rest of his life....combined. he knows this.
it would be interesting to see pj adjust/grow with/reinvent themselves with a new drummer but matt's a lifer. he's going to the hall of fame with them, he's been their drummer for over half of their existence.....matt cameron is pearl jam.i have a paper here that entitles me to fast track status0 -

Sorry but Matt has NOTHING to do with their later albums, only the songs he actually wrote made any difference. Do you honestly think Ed, Stone, Jeff, and Mike wrote those songs because of Matt? Ed would've written I am Mine either way, stone would've written Rival either way, etc. The only thing that has to do with is how matt played on the songs, not the actual songs themselves.
The last 3 albums arent as good as the earlier ones simply because they are later albums. Every band writes their better stuff early in their career. Anyway, Avocado was an awesome album.
Back on topic: Matt isnt leaving, thats just ridiculous. PJ is NOT going through another drummer. Matt is welded into PJ. There was an article saying that PJ literally CAN'T tour in 2010 because of a member having a baby. Supposedly that baby is actually Matt leaving for Soundgarden. It's just a temporary reunion.5/28/06, 6/27/08, 10/28/09, 5/18/10, 5/21/10
