I saw him at the phillies game around the concession area. I went up to him and shook his hand. He was friendly. I wonder if he realizes how cool it is for a fan to meet him. It probably makes him uncomfortable but I had to at least say hello. Anyway, when I went to go to my seat, I felt a tap on my soldier and it was him. He handed me a pick and took off. I thought that was big of him. It made all these years of supporting Pearl Jam feel justified. He showed true character by making sure he did something to show his appreciation. Thanks "Uncle" Ed.

Cool story. Awesome how he tapped you on your "soldier" (I think you meant shoulder) to give you the pick.
  • Thanks for the correction animal. Shoulder is the word I was looking for. Yes,it was the E K pick. I wonder who he wanted to win. Anybody know?

There are a lot of great "Ed Stories" right now, but I really like this one. That he sought you out is just fantastic. What a nice thing for you, and just another example of what a nice guy he is. I actually went, "Awwww..." out loud. :)
I still want you all to "take care"--I am just damn tired of typing it.

Kickass! I don't know that I would've had the nerve to approach him in the first place.
I SO wish I had been at the game yesterday! :)

Cool Story! Congrats on meeting Ed and getting the pick.

Ed is good friends with Red Sox GM Theo Epstein so I'm sure Theo hooked him up with the tickets.

    GO RED SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I think Eddie knows how big it is to meet your idols. He was avery big fanboy in his early days in San Diego. Working at the clubs, meeting people he admired. But sometimes they are busy and cant stop, and thats when fans feelings get hurt. Plus I think we are all pretty respectful when we meet anyone from Pearl Jam. I've meet Eddie a few times and been shot down a few times. Oh well there is always next time.
Let's see those 2013 dates in the southern states.

Read that and my mind totally went to the gutter, since some men refer to their penis as their "little solider" and that Eddie tapped him on his soldier and well uhhhh...hehe. :o
