I don't really watch baseball but from what I can tell we have a reasonably healthy split of Sox/Yanks fans here (with a slight lean toward the Yanks). Probably due to being 3-3.5 hrs from both NYC and Boston. Some people just like to hate the Yanks just because, and I've found those people like the Sox as it's the most natural home to find if you're one of those people. The people that hate the Sox, were already Yank fans, so far as I can tell.
I will still force myself to party with both groups of fans.

It's good that you've given this so much thought, OFED.
I am a Sox fan for sure and I do hate the Yankees, in theory, but there are actually many players that I like & respect. A-Rod is not one of them, however.

Crazed sports fan are a source of fodder for me. Actually anyone that goes off the deep end with their fanaticism (yep, PJ fans included) are interesting from a psychological perspective.like.echoes wrote:oneforeachday wrote:I don't really watch baseball but from what I can tell we have a reasonably healthy split of Sox/Yanks fans here (with a slight lean toward the Yanks). It's disheartening to know that there are adults that don't know the capital of the state they live in, but they know the sports statistics for the last 10 yrs of their favorite players (bball, football, baseball, etc.).
i digress... lets get back to the discussion at hand: PARTY!!!!!!0 -
yeah Party!!!! good times good times....0

well my brother from the north...if i am able to make the pre-party and if you are going to the pre-party..I'll def fire up with you!oneforeachday wrote:It's disheartening to know that there are adults that don't know the capital of the state they live in, but they know the sports statistics for the last 10 yrs of their favorite players (bball, football, baseball, etc.)
I agree 1000% with that!! but you see....i am not one of those people..sports are fun but i keep them in perspective...i always say the reason this country is fucked is because more people spend more time watching american idol, sports & sitcoms than they do learning about the patriot act, military commissions act (etc) and just how fucking crooked their gov is!0 -

Right on man. (and I didn't mean to point the finger b.t.w.). I think everything in moderation is a reasonably good motto. I like me some sports... but a long time ago I read a piece by Noam Chomsky about how sports, among other things, was "dumbing down" america. I'm not trying to be "holier than thou" here... I'm just as dumb as the next guy, and I understand that the country (and the world) is the way it is due to diversification (we can't all be PhD's, those lazy fucks would never pick up the trash, and funny thing, one of the MAIN differentiators between us and medieval times is NOT industrialization or the computer, it's sanitation).U R A Crazy Breed wrote:Cardinal wrote:Hopefully us Canadians can find that smokie in Albany without going to jail...us Canadians like us some smokie....but Im not risking bringing it over the boarder.

Ok, this philosophy stuff is depressing to do on the msg boards. We can all discuss it over a beer on June 8/9? [I'm sorry to say that I don't share your interest in the smokey or we could discuss over that... but I have never done it. Nothing against it, just a decision I made a long time ago (been 100% drug free my whole life... sans alcohol, which I don't really do much of that either).]
very much looking forward to meeting ya'll.
Is it June 8th yet? LOL.0 -

yes I decided to show the pj world what i truly look like:)0 -
Yeah, don't risk it. I'm not sure if you're coming from the North (Montreal) but there's a 2nd border patrol just below Lake Placid with dogs that they open up without any notice. Definitely don't risk it!Cardinal wrote:Hopefully us Canadians can find that smokie in Albany without going to jail...us Canadians like us some smokie....but Im not risking bringing it over the boarder.

I thought I was the only one who thinks celebrity and athlete worship in America has made us stupid! I'm not a sports fan, but I do tend to always route for the underdog in any case. In other words, the Mets. 0 -

Sorry, bugs, did you want to check the standings and then re-post? Did you forget that the Sox have swept the Yanks 2x already this season? Hmm?
