Ida Ljungqvist: Hugh Hefner's First African Playmate of the Year

I didn't know one has never been chosen until now. She looks pretty nice, what a job Hugh has huh. :D I gather this must be a good time for it with BHO being President.

    wow ... timely ...

    a friend of mine and I were talking about sideline reporters the other day, you know, the Erin Andrews, Melissa Stark eye candy types ... and he was commenting on this "new" craze.

    I kindly reminded him that this was far from new .... and reminded him of Jayne Kennedy ... who did a lot of work for CBS Football back in the day (early 80s) ....

    She was never a playmate of the year, but, she was gorgeous! One of my all time pre-teen crushes.

    From what I read she is the first African born playmate of the year. I haven't read anything saying she is the first black playmate of the year.

    But either way I think its a good thing to have someone OTHER than some blonde haired blue eyed girl be the playmate. I am soooooooooooooooooo sick of that look

    Surely they've had a mixed race playmate of the year before??

    We're all mixed at this point anyway.
    The only people we should try to get even with...

    Well, considering that as a female, I find the whole playmate crap to be pure sexist BS, I think it's good for her that she is the playmate of the year. However, if I recall correctly, the first black playmate was back in 1990 or 1991, so Ida would be on the second black female to be deemed worthy of that title.

    I'm a black female, so these little details kinda stand out and stick to my brain. :lol:

    Yes, there has already been an African-American PMOY....I just can't for the life of me remember her name...late 1980's or early 1990's.

    Are you thinking of Vanessa Williams, however wasn't she JUST Playmate of the Month or was she in a beauty contest and lost her title.

    Vanessa Williams did some work for a photographer years prior to entering the Miss America pageant, when she won the crown.....the photographer dug through his files....found the old pictures and sold them to Penthouse. Vanessa did NOT DIRECTLY pose for a men's magazine......the same thing happened to Madonna at the start of her music career.
