I was thinkning of staying in a hotel and they are about a 10 minute cab ride...my fiance and I are cmoming from Hoboken, NJ,we met up with a few @ Bonnaroo & Lolla would love to go to a bash again.. if anyone has any hotel info that would be great .

I can find some info for you and let you know. My friend lives 5 blocks from the park and we will be crashing at her pad for the show. One thing to keep in mind is that the Taxi Cab situation over there is horrible. Last time we were in town we waited 2 hours for a cab on a Friday night when there was nothing going on in the city. I would try to stay somewhere you don't have rely on cabs.

I strongly recommend taking SF Muni rather than trying to get a cab. Cabs don't generally cruise that area so you'd probably need to call a cab and it would take a while (as the last poster said).

I work at UCSF ( a few blocks from the park) and I'd say the area is good but you do have to be aware of your surroundings - like any major city. There are robberies and it's usually people who are unaware and/or walking alone.

As far as motels are concerned, I don't know any specifically but I've heard that most by the beach are decent. There are some at the east end of the park too near the Haight. I'll ask my co-wrokers is they know anything about them.

I'm staying at Oceanview. It got decent reviews on every site I checked. Plus at $85 and free parking you won't find a better deal. I'm just not up for the circus that will take place after the show ends. I'd rather know I'm close to the venue and that my legs are the only transportation I really need. You can walk from Oceanview to the venue in probably 25 minutes. It's around 1.5 miles from the entrance. It's not in a bad part of town either. Plus it's across the street from Ocean Beach. I'm planning on enjoying a nice day at the beach before walking to the show. Unless it's a complete dump I don't see a downside.

even though my sis lives in the east bay, we decided it would be best to get a room in the city. she said last year it was a nightmare trying to get to the bart. we got a room closer to the haight area, i think its called the stanyan park or something. i think they still have some rooms available, if people are looking.
