i'm going home! just in time for PJ @ ACL too!~!!!

    thanks guys! would love to meet up w/ anyone in the Austin area when i get down there


    does anyone have recommendations on where to look for places to live other than craigslist? i have friends telling me that Central East Austin is the best place to look. i'd love to find a house available for rent

    can't believe i'll be on the road 2 weeks from now...

    sad, but true. we go to Austin a lot b/c Waco is part of the "desert of suck".

    as far as places to live, maybe you should hook up w/ a house/apartment finder service. we had really good luck with those places in the past. are you moving down there with all of your stuff & nowhere to live? maybe you should make a quick trip (flight) prior to hitting the road so you can find your place first. unless you have a place to stay so you can look when you get there.

    i wish i had that kind of time... they called me this past Friday and want me to start Friday, May 8th :lol:

    fortunately i have friends down there who are offering up couch space/extra rooms until i find a place of my own. the plan right now is to store the big items (bed, bookcase, dresser, tv & tv stand) up here in a storage facility and then have them sent down to me when i find my own place so i don't have to worry traveling w/ it or storing it while i'm looking for a house to rent.

    my friends are telling me they know people looking for places now too so i'm not too worried about it. i don't really like having things so completely up in the air, but if it's gotta be like this for me to get my ass down to Austin, so be it!

    well, now's a good time to move there & find a place. with all of the students moving/graduating, you should be able to find a good place. good luck! 8-)

    that's the best part about the timing... hopefully i'll be able to meet up with a cool person/people who are looking for a house to rent & a roommate to share it with them :D

    the worst part about the timing is that i have to give up on most of my summer Phish shows & that i'll miss summer time in Maine, which is amazing

    just got off the phone w/ the HR department down there. i start Friday May 15th :D

    leaving Maine May 1st, gonna take my time to get down there, & then start getting things settled. hopefully i'll be able to find a place to live before i leave. i have friends looking for places & apparently a friend's friend is looking for a roommate...


    for the first time in a very long time, things are finally falling into place for me

    so happy right now :mrgreen:

    i just agreed to a place on S Congress and Riverside!! the only drawback is that i can't move in until June 1, but i have friends who will let me stay with them until i can start living in my apartment!

    austin is a sweet music town. my sister moved there in aug. i was surprised how cool a place it is.

    Congrats on the move to Austin! Your going to love it! I have actually been thinking of moving there for a while. It may actually happen this summer but we'll see.

    yeah that is nice. it's just gonna be difficult sleeping on friends' couches for a month while i'm starting a new job... it's all worth it though :D

    i am. grew up in Houston, spent a good deal of time up in Austin... went back 2 years ago for ACL and ever since then have thought about moving down there

    thanks! i've been on cloud 9 for the past 10 days since i found out, but having the housing situation all figured out has made it all the more better

    my office just had a cookout as my going away lunch since today's my last day at work. burgers & dogs & pasta salad & chips 'n dip & chocolate cheesecake...

    my friend Michelle, who's actually also from Texas (Corpus Christi), gave me a cowboy hat too :lol:

    holy jeebus is it hot here :lol:


    i got in late Tuesday night and have had an amazing 5+ days in town already. saw Lucero at Emo's on Friday, went to the BrewBQ at Waterloo park yesterday afternoon, spent a good bit walking around downtown & have taken a lot of time to catch up with old friends i haven't seen in years

    my job starts next Friday so i have a few more days to chill & relax
