Pearl Jam night on American Idol...

I know that American Idol is either loved, loathed or a guilty pleasure to many people. The show has featured theme shows based on genre or artist (i.e. - Country, Motown, Disco, Mariah Carey night, etc.).

While HIGHLY unlikely to ever happen; for good or bad, what are your thoughts on American Idol having a "Songs of Pearl Jam" night? I think this topic should stir up some interesting and diverse responses - time to open up Pandora's Box...and...begin!

    super unlikely.. but it would be funny to hear the interpretations of the songs.. i'm sure they'd be mostly bad, but usually funny.

    are you on the big island? i'm heading back there in sept. .... so beautiful. we have a place near kona...

    didn't some guy with like a really hippie name sing Jeremy and butchered it?...

    i think the idea of it is decent, but there is a high risk of the songs being ruined due to the contestants butchering it...and PJ songs can really only work with like a deep voice, though there are exceptions

    Interesting thought . . . but I can see the songs being turned into a terrible "pop" interpretation.

    I wish I were on the Big Island. I went to high school there and would love to move back someday. I'm currently on Oahu. But either way, like we say here in the islands, "Lucky we live Hawaii!"

    If pearl jam ever allowed their songs to be performed on American Idol I would be severely disappointed.

    Ed's anti-American Idol...I seriously doubt they would ever come in and work with the contestants...leave that up to Neil Diamond and Dolly Parton...people who have nothing else better to do. Plus American Idol has never been about rock music...the judges prefer country, r&b and pop music.

    Ok so I'll admit (even though I shouldn't) I watch American Idol and get a kick out of it, but there is NO place for Pearl Jam on that show. And those three youtube links above prove that it's a horrible idea! I'm so glad I never saw that Jeremy performance - oh how absolutely horrid. It would be nearly impossible for somebody to pull off a good rock performance without an actual quality rock band backing them up. They did do Queen once, which I thought was pretty damn terrible. That show is solely about pop-music/stars ... and sometimes even that is a stretch for the contestants.

    While I would cringe if I ever saw their music (again) on Idol, I would hope any future PJ songs would be from their later catalog. Like Army Reserve.

    At first I had to check the calendar again to be sure this wasn't the guy that always tries to pull an April Fool's prank on The Who's fan club site by saying that Pete Townshend is going to be on American Idol. :roll: :lol:

    I don't watch the show but I've seen the clip from last year of somebody slaughtering Baba O'Riley. :o :shock:
    Just proved what others have already posted, the show is about pop music not rock. I can enjoy some well-produced pop music but American Idol is about marketing, not quality.
