Don't get me wrong here... I love Incubus. I have just felt for a long time that they have made many similar efforts as the PJ guys in the way they release their music. They are also very good to their fans. This next release feels very Lost Dogish... and I'm looking forward to hearing many of these B-Sides that I'm unfamiliar with. We should be seeing an Incubus Super Deluxe Re-Release in the next 7 years or so. Not that their albums need any remastering.

Enjoy!

i can't name an Incubus song, and i'm not sure if i ever heard one.

But many different bands release B-Side albums.

To find I'd known this all along.

Thanks for the oh so subtle negative response. Appreciate you letting me know about the other bands that do this too. You should look into some Incubus. You'll be glad you did.

I love Incubus and don't see how this compares to Pearl jam at all. Are you implying that Pearl jam was the first band to put out a greatest hits cd or a b-sides and rarities cd? How else has Incubus pulled a pearl jam?

I'm not an Incubus fan, I don't like their music... But I just want to chime in and say that Brandon Boyd looks awful in that photo... is he sick or something?

I used to be pretty into Incubus but haven't kept up with them for a while - this is good news. I guess I can see the comparision to PJ in the sense they've released a ton of live material, but that's about it...

Morning View is by far their best album. Mexico!!!!

    This.
  • i love incubus, but i'm not sure this new release is quite like lost dogs or anything. monuments and melodies is a greatest hits and rarities compilation. i think they're kind of just doing it to fill a last obligation with sony/epic.

their music cannot be compared to pj, apples and oranges. however, both are great with their fans and i believe the way they handle themselves can seem similar. boyd and vedder come off as parallel in their beliefs and lifestyles sometimes.
i've been in my mind, it's such a fine line...

This is awesome news. Also, they are doing a huge summer tour which should be full o fb-sides from this album. They do try to do a lot of things similar to pearl ajam. They are a great live band as well. I think Sick sad little world is one of the best songs i have heard in the past 10 years

the first three times i saw incubus live, it was great. fantastic vibe, they sounded awesome. the last time, however, was in support of light grenades and it sucked. i think im done seeing them live. i will get this album though.

  • They sort have always been different than alot of the "numetal" bands that rose out of the late 90's scene.

They are alot more musical and important than they get the credit for.

i agree. i wouldn't call them "numetal" though. it seems like they got that label because of certain bands that came out around the same time. they are all very talented, natural musicians. they're live shows are amazing, they seem like they have a lot of fun. i've been to i think 5 shows. the best was probably the year they did the honda civic tour, in support of morning view about 8 years ago. they were young and you got the impression that they felt on top of the world at the time. lots of natural energy.

They are not awful! The are all very talented. As for the nu metal logo, that really is a bad label for them. I saw them on the light grenades tour and it was badass. I think this tour will be good for them . How crazy is it that they have a #1 song now 2 years after light grenades was released. I think that shows the strength of that album.

I noticed that Linkin park copied the daughter break down improv tag type thing in their song. Could say it has been done for years etc but they were touring with them, supporting them or on before headlining a festival.

    meh

I loss interest in them after A Crow Left... came out, that's what I meant. They were great but not anymore in my opinion. I still liked SCIENCE, Make Yourself and Morning View though.

There is such a delusional mindset around here in regards to Pearl Jam's influence on the universe. So Linkin Park plays what, 1 show with pearl jam? And in that time, they decide to steal Pearl jam's tendency to do an extended middle jam to a song? So if I were ignorant to music, based on your post, I would be led to believe that no other band in the universe has did an improv in the middle of a song before Pearl Jam did with Daughter?

Also the original poster never responded with what the new Incubus album has to do with Pearl jam.

It wasn't quite doing an improv, it was the whole vocal bit then the crowd sings back the vocal bit and it just sounded exactly like the sorta thing Eddie would do, i havent heard every live show by every other band out there so i presume its just copying Pearl Jam, dont know if Eddie copied those vocal patterns from someone else. And it wasn't 1 show, they played with them a lot in 07.

Actually, Brisk is right. Linkin Park admitted to wanting to do more things in a Pearl Jam way after the shows they did together back in 07'? They essentially wanted to make their shows more interactive with their fans.

I personally think sometime PJ's influence is played down somewhat. Their approach is basically a blueprint for the fan-friendly bands out there to follow. Any of us who has been to see different bands knows the significance of togetherness that comes with a PJ show. The only other large act I can think of that connects with an audience like that today is Bruce. If I was in a band that had a decent to large following, I'd probably at the very least glance over to a band that is still can cause quite a ruckus with its decisions, despite pissing off some of the most powerful entities in this country. This is a band that has been through too many things to list, how can you not learn from them?

He is not on drugs, but yes that picture does look bad. Most of them did drugs during their science days, but that is way behind them now. What are some of you guys favorite songs by them. Mine are the following:

    1. Sick Sad Little World
    2. Nowhere Fast
    3. Make Yourself
  • He's always been a skinny dude. Drugs could be an excuse if he wasn't always so thin.

Favorite songs...that's a toughie, I'm a big fan. Probably Make Yourself, Sick Sad Little World, Aqueous Transmission, and probably many more that I can't think of right now.
