The new Yeah Yeah Yeahs album = Yield?

Someone from the ever-intriguing Coachella message board just had this to say about "It's Blitz!", the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs album:

"They gotta play what they wanna play though. I just feel like they're drifting into their Pearl Jam's 'Yield' period. Bands don't tend to climb back out of that."

Part of me wants to find out where this kid lives and throw a brick through his window, but I probably won't end up doing that. :mrgreen:

    I love the Yeah Yeah Yeahs! :D Karen O! love2.gif But after hearing the new Blitz record a dozen plus times .. how is it equal to Pearl Jam's Yield period? :?

    I think the guy meant the YYY are trying a different sound and because of that may never be able to create the magic they used to have ever again, in his opinion obviously.

    As great as "No Code" is (and it is great), I thought "Yield" was a revival from the abysmal tour vs ticketmaster and low reception to album sales.

    I would use Yield to demostrate a band at one of their high points, so dude must not know Yield or just be smack-talker, but I haven't heard the YYYs new disc...
    p.s. I would consider No Code experimental, NOT Yield

    He isnt comparing the Yeah's album to Yield hes comparing the Yeah's development in sound to Pearl Jam's during the Yield period. It isnt a knock on Pearl Jam or the Yeah Yeah Yeah's, just simply a comparison in terms of reaching deep down and creating something different, new, and kick ass... I'm looking for to their new album. Hopefully with BOB back on board PJ can get back to their Yield sound as well.

    Not gonna happen. Think about it. Name one time PJ has gone back to a sound. They'll keep moving onward and forward just like they always have.
