I'm Getting a Divorce.....

I got married really young, and have been married a long time. I'm on disability and I cannot afford an Attorney. I've emailed a few Mediators today & I'm hoping I can get some help that way, because if I don't I'm completely screwed... :roll:

I'm happy about us finally doing this, it's been a long time coming, but I'm so afraid at the same time.. :?

If anyone else has been through this, can you please give me some advice or some words of encouragement. I would really appreciate it. :cry:

    If there are any marital assets, can you liquify them to pay for an attorney?

    I may have your situation confused with someone else's, but if there has been any abuse, many domestic violence agencies will provide pro bono work for divorce and custody.

    I wish you well with the process it's tough (emotionally) and long (at least in PA).... I would offer you advice but I really have none to offer. My soon to be ex did all the lawyer work and I didn't fight him on it because there's nothing to be had out of our divorce.

    I would just like to thank everyone that posted on this thread and others with their caring thoughts. It really isn't much of a surprise to many I know, but what did come as a surprise is that he is seeing someone... I just came right out and asked him and at first he wouldn't look at me. Obviously he did...

    I don't think there is going to be a big battle because we agree on everything. So I guess we just need to file and discuss what assets we are both entitled to and that will be it. The house of course will not be sold yet, there has been alot of time and money put into this place & I would like to wait to see if we can at least get what the house is worth.

    The things that bothers me more than anything else are my little doggies. There are like my children I just love them so much.

    I'm sorry to hear that about him seeing someone, but am glad to hear you're able to move on with the divorce and agreeing on things.

    as for your house, I wish you the best of luck on it. "Ours" has been on the market since May... for rent or sale and no one is interested. It's a pretty bad market out there. I really wish you the best with it all.
