ever wish to be someone else, just to see what it's like?

i love being me :)...so it's not some bizarre self-esteem thing, haha. and i don't mean wishing to be someone famous or something, although i've often desired being someone truly genius, just to check it out. i am thinking of, just another average person....to really be able to see, to think, in someone else's head. often on the train some random interesting looking person will trigger this thought in me...wondering what it's like to BE someone else, have their thoughts, their life....just to see what it's like. try as we may to see things from others' perspective, we truly can't do so 100%....so i think it would be amazing to experience for one day anyway. someone from a completely different cultural background in particular could be very fascinating....and/or different gender....age....whatever.

just some random thoughts swimming thu my head this morning commute.

  • Someone else? Perhaps only to see myself naked
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all
  • Genuinely... no! I've often wondered what it's like to be certain people... but never wished to actually BE them even just for a day. I'm pretty comfortable being me :D
    The Astoria??? Orgazmic!
    Verona??? it's all surmountable
Dublin 23.08.06 "The beauty of Ireland, right there!"
    Wembley? We all believe!
Copenhagen?? your light made us stars
    Chicago 07? And love
    What a different life
Had I not found this love with you

You dont own a mirror ?

  • hmmmm...i just think it would be utterly fascinating to actually THINK and FEEL in someone else's mind, what an absolutely *different* experience it would be! as i said, it has nada to do with not genuinely enjoying being me...it has to do with experiencing life from an entirely different perspective, b/c let's face it, who we are and how we think always is 'there' in all our experiences....so having someone els'e mind to check out..... i think it would be so cool! i mean, even people in my own life, no matter how well you know someone, you can never truly know them...all their thoughts and feelings......we can only fully known our own selves.
    Stay with me...

 I just think if you WERE somebody for a day, you'd still have your own thoughts but in their body... it wouldn't be YOU if you were THEM... if that makes sense

I would only wish to be someone else -- say a beautiful lady -- for the purpose of seeing myself as that person naked.

If we only had a day, I don't think I'd even make it out of the shower.

yep, i'd pick to be a woman for a day.... i'd get my funbags out to guys on the street and stuff... possibly buy a cucumber... that kinda thing... thats if i ever left the house that is.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
  • i've thought about this too, when riding the bus to work...something about zoning out on public transportation i think

it would be interesting, like some sort of psychological travel. not sure id' want anybody to journey in my head for a day though

    exactly!

i've often imagined havin ght ehtought process of say einstein...or perhaps picasso...but yes, ONLY for a day! might be 'too much' to be that genius, or selfish ;)...for longer. and i do think, even just the average person, to actually be able to see, think and feel the world, from someone else's mindset, their perspective...would be fascinating! as much as we're so similar, we all are so different too.

glad at least one person really *gets* it. :P

Funny, I often think it would be nice to be in a normal person's shoes for a day or so. It's a burden being a genius all the time.

  • I'd like to be Ed, Johnny Depp (I'd call up Tim Burton and ask to meet for a coffee with him and the missus ;) ) or Jim James... but if we're not going famous I guess I'd like to be my boyfriend for a day...

I know that sound silly and mushy (I assure you it's not mushy!) but it's purely for egotistical reasons... I wanna see what he sees and I wanna know what it's like to live with me, sleep with me etc etc.

The only other thing i'd like to be is my cat, Ozzy. She's too intelligent to be 'just a cat' and I often wonder what goes through her head, what she thinks about and where she gets her god complex and the mighty chip on her shoulder...
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

    oooooooooooo...that IS interesting!
altho it might be very dangerous to truly 'know' what my husband is thinking, some things might be better left 'unknown.' ;) haha. but seriously...yes! that's EXACTLY it! just the idea of being able to se the world from another's perspective. amazing!

i'd especially like to visit the brain of an artist, like van gogh or dali (thought maybe only for 15 minutes, might get fried any longer than that lol), or monet or davinci. just the way they saw the world, what details would they notice, what would seem insignificant to me that would be paramount to them.

    it'd be a wild trip!

    exactly, exactly, exactly!
i always off the top of my head say picasso or einstein. picasso for the art, and sure..larger than life personality and ego ;)....and einstein for that sheer brain power, most especially b/c it is SO outside my own real abilities. but you GOT it chica....that's what i was thinking, and still think, on the topic. but even looking small-scale...it'd be a helluva trip evn with the average joe...a whole new mind!

norm.......that could be VERY trippy! :)
