Snap dude, I've been into the pumpkins longer than Pearl jam i think, and i adore them. I have travelled round Europe seeing them and i collect their live shows, pretty much equivalent to Pearl Jam. I don't think people really realise how great this band are, especially in the live department.

For me it's generally Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and Smashing Pumpkins who i find so so hard to put in some sort of any order.

being that you collect their live shows, do you have a good recording of the 11/16/08 concert at Mohegan sun?
I was there but due to technical difficulties they couldn't release the offical boot and now i'm stuck with a reall really bad audience one.

Don't think there is one man, will have to keep a look out for you.

    thanks, let me know

    indeed

no idea of the quality, but it's downloading. Took over control of my bros pc at home, set it to download. Will have to upload it to somewhere, what site you prefer? megaupload? rapidshare? sendspace? etc
  • Either megaupload or rapidshare will work...seems like I have always had better luck with RS though

You say that but even if the records sucked i still think the songs live were brilliant. Check out the Adore tour...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ds-fPZUdb0

Then the 99 tour saw loads of cool Machina 1 + 2 songs

Then the Farewell tour was just cool as well, loads of songs were reworked again which totally fit the whole Farewell and Goodbye aspect of it all.

I beg to differ, though adore was alright MAchina and ecspecially Machina 2 were solid + their new album has soom real good ones on it

I guess once Iha and Darcy left, I just could get into it as much-billy ruling with an iron fist kinda turned me off

After seeing this show, it just couldnt get much better

  • Love the Pumpkins. Definitely up there with Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Blind Melon & Faith No More as my top bands.

Been listening to 'Machina' a lot recently. Not sure why it get trashed so much, I think it's great.
'The Everlasting Gaze', 'Try Try Try' are amazing tracks. As for 'Stand Inside Your Love', that's just insanely good!!

Finally saw them for the first time last February and they were great. Didn't know what to expect in a live show, particularly as Billy hasn't got the strongest voice, but they were fantastic.
Even if Billy did have a strop and buggered off before the encore!!!!

  • i love the pumpkins...one of my top 5 favorite bands.

in fact i've been listening to machina and zeitgeist a lot lately and had a song from machina in my head when i came across this thread and still do...

i respectfully disagree with the people who suggest they went downhill after mellon collie...granted, adore is a bit...i don't know, i can't put my finger on it...but...

machina is a solid rock album and zeitgeist is truly phenomenal...i don't see how you couldn't dig it if you were a pumpkins fan or even just a fan of rock music in general... and i think they hold up well against the earlier stuff. maybe not as good as gish or siamese, but good nonetheless and worthwhile listening. one of a few bands i've yet to see live and would like to.

One of the reasons why i think they are an incredible band is becuase of Billy never really being happy the way he writes a song. He writes a a song, but there are millions of ways to play it, which is just ace as for anyone who has listened to shows from 93-00 you know there are so many different versions of songs. Any Billy solo shows are just so intense, like muzzle acoustic is incredible!

Just bought Zeitgeist today, and it's not bad. I'm finally able to appreciate the Pumpkins after falling in love with Mellon Collie.
