Hard to tell... Those stars look a little shady, but they could be weathered if it's a used pick that was played at a show. Still, I don't know how some of these sellers on ebay have so many. There are guys named roadcaserob and igotguitarpicks that've been selling like 2 a month for the past 6 months (maybe longer). Where are they getting them all from? I talked to one of Ed's roadies at the Newark show and he said even he can't get one. So I'm guessing there's gotta be some fakes out there being sold on ebay, but if no one can tell the difference...

Hi ...
I have 2....that Eddie put in my hot little hand...so I KNOW they are real
Mine are actually a bit different, I will post them........HOWEVER you will see at the v where the the stars meet...the bottom red line stops and doesnt come to a point.
Hope this helpsHow I choose to feel......is how I am.0 -
Now that I really look at them...the blue's of the front are totally different colors. How I choose to feel......is how I am.0

I caught the last pick flung out by Ed on the tour @ Chicago.. things that are different.. on a real one, the red, white and blue "V" with the stars in it doesn't go all the way to the edges of the pick, it falls short a bit.. also, on all the printing the lines are a lot smoother than on the one you have pictured. The Lovely Lady LISA (above) said that the colors were different, and they are, but I could not judge by that because cameras and lighting can make colors very different on the exact same item. The colors on mine are darker though (blue and red both). I wanna say, the jaggedness of the lines all over your pick make it look like a home reproduction, as well as a few other little things. How much did you pay for that, if you don't mind me asking?

Looks very close, im looking at mine that i got from dc right now.
Differences that I see, the star stripe on the front, on mine it looks like it comes down farther on the pcik, meaning the bottom of the V is closer to the tip of the pick. Also on mine the upper left star points are right on the edge of the pick. This could easily be a difference from printing one pick to another.
Also Ed play with mine, so it's beat up a little, but I picked it up 1/10 of a second after it hit the floor in front of me, and it looks really beat up, like some of the print is off of the back and it's almost like someone threw it in the dirt.
Does this mean yours isnt real? possible but who knows.Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?0 -

Let me set this straight.
The pick you bought is real. How do I know? Several reasons:
1. I have 2 picks given to me by Eddie, both have the lines connecting at the V, printed all the way to the edge.
2. Printing (silkscreen printing) on a guitar pick is a very small surface, and not a lot of room to manuever. Printing errors are extremely frequent, and colors bleeding are a natural process of it.
3. I have my own guitar picks made up, and there are slight variations on a bunch of them as printing errors are common with art being pressed onto something extremely small.
4. The creative nature of his artwork on these picks is the distinguishing lines and colors. It will be jagged at times, and picks are very flexible and tough to manage while in a print run.
so enjoy your REAL EV guitar pick, and don't let anyone tell you that it's fake. It's not.9/29/96, 8/29/98, 9/8,11/98, 7/28/99, 8/23,24,25/00, 10/13/00, 4/15/03, 4/30/03, 7/8,9,12,14/03, 10/1/04, 9/30/05, 10/1/05, 5/4,5,13,27,28/06, 6/1,3/06, 6/19,20,22,24,25,27/08, 7/1/08, 8/4,5,7,16/08, 8/21/09, 10/27,28,30,31/09, 5/15,17,18,20,21/10, 9/2/12, 10/18,19,21,22,25/130 -

how much difference does it make?
If someone wanted to, how hard would it be to oder picks in bulk? If you buy 500 and pay $0.10 each and sell them for $10.00 each? A pick company will make any pic you want, all it say's is "EV", so no worries about getting in trouble. Harder if it said Pearl Jam or Eddie Vedder. Just wonder if that how eBay guys do it?0 -
a lot of the guitar picks that eddie uses are not able to be reproduced by a lot of the public guitar pick companies.
The picks that these public companies make are generally the standard picks and color schemes, while getting let's say eddie's black guitar pick in the right gauge and whatnot can be done for him by Dunlop which sponsors PJ....but a regular guitar pick manufacturor does not offer all such options.9/29/96, 8/29/98, 9/8,11/98, 7/28/99, 8/23,24,25/00, 10/13/00, 4/15/03, 4/30/03, 7/8,9,12,14/03, 10/1/04, 9/30/05, 10/1/05, 5/4,5,13,27,28/06, 6/1,3/06, 6/19,20,22,24,25,27/08, 7/1/08, 8/4,5,7,16/08, 8/21/09, 10/27,28,30,31/09, 5/15,17,18,20,21/10, 9/2/12, 10/18,19,21,22,25/130 -

Interesting info. Certainly, I am no expert. I was only comparing his to a known good that I possess. The only expertise I have to go on is when reproducing a graphic, say by scanning into a PC, etc, you almost always have to clean up the outer lines because a reproduction will get pixelated (even at very high resolution)... If not cleaned up with attention to fine detail, your jagged edges will transfer to your screen when you expose it, and then on to your print media when printed. Plus, if the colors are indeed so different, the printer that was hired to this job certainly didn't use a Pantone scale, or made several batches and kept no record of the Pantone colors they used which would be unusual for a professional outfit, in my humble opinion.

I've had six of them... they are all slightly different. I am looking at three of them right now. All three have the rd and blue lines going all the way to the edges... I'm going to TRY and post some photos. I know mine were all real and i think arq's guys pick is real. IMHO.
PS- There are plenty of real Ed picks floating around. I have three and have passed on three others... and a number of my friends have gotten their own as well....sometimes life don't leave you alone0 -

That would help. Are the colors different from one pick to the next?Just me0 -
But these are my three and they are real...
I think they look like arq's pick...

I'm so sorry the picture sucks.... I suck at taking photos of picks as i don;t have good command of my camera... :(
I think in real life the color of the picks is closer to the color of arq's pick than this poor photographic representation....
LOL> My photo is useless.
Oh well...I tried...sometimes life don't leave you alone0 -
