Nick drake is the most secret, underrated genius songwriter. Beautiful songs and amazing guita playing. You'll hear a lot of him when you listen to Ed's work on Into the Wild. So brilliant.
Get 5 Leaves left and Pink Moon.

I wonder which song Vedder will do. Jack probably should do Pink Moon. It'd be uncanny.

wow - this is pretty cool. wasn't familiar with Drake, but after checking him out, i'm diggin it. thanks!
  • I work with Autistic adults, and every night before going to sleep we do like a "mellow" get ready for bed routine. This consists of massage time for the guys to help with the different degrees of sensory levels that they deal with. During this time we also play the Nick Drake cd Pink Moon. It really helps to calm and mellow them. I have even begun to sneak in my own "mellow" PJ cd's and Ed's into the wild... but nothing seems to calm these guys like the voice and songs of Nick Dreak. I cant wait to see if this tribute album will have the same effect...

oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

Oooooh, looking forward to this 8-)

I do take issue with whoever said Nick Drake is underrated though. I come from the same neck of the woods as him, and he's quite well known and well loved round here.

There's nothing secret about Nick Drake anymore, to be honest. That might have been the case up until the early nineties, but there's almost a Nick Drake industry out there these days. The Drake estate is even licensing songs out for cough mixture adverts.

Dave Grohl, Jack Johnson, Eddie Vedder and Norah Jones are among the artists who are recording cover versions of Nick Drake songs for a tribute album.

A video shot by actor Heath Ledger for the influential late English folk singer's track Black Eyed Dog will also be included on the DVD version.

"No-one in the world has ever seen that before," said David Schulhof of Evergreen Copyrights.

The album and DVD will come out this year on Jack Johnson's record label.

Drake, who died in 1974 aged 26 remains one of the most revered voices from the folk singer-songwriter scene.

Mr Schulhof said a similar tribute was being planned for country singer Bill Monroe.

The Dixie Chicks, Alison Krauss and Dave Matthews will feature on that, while a spin-off bluegrass tour will also take place.

My vote is for River Man, would love to hear Ed sing that!

He'd do a good job on Harvest Breed or From The Morning. From The Morning would suit his baritone.

Both great calls. I'll also throw in "Which Will" and "Tow the Line"
