    HOT!!!

I'll bring the OJ & digital camera! :P
  • I like the new board. However, I will miss the old board. I might have to just back on before it closes and give one final send off.

that is a classic ... you wouldn't have renewed your membership? so you only have a membership because there was a free message board?

i agree this will likely reduce traffic... which is bad for the forum
but i assume it will make it easier for the mods

i guess people are just voicing their opinions but it amazes me how quickly that turns into a bitch fest...
have any of you called the 10c to discuss this? or you just talk shit from behind the safety of your keyboard?

I've been debating for 2 years whether or not the 10c is worth it... My 10c # gives me floor seats at the back of the floor every show... I'd rather buy TM and be on the side where I can see... the holiday single does nothing for me and neither does the mag. But I kept it up mainly out of habit and loyalty. But this whole charging for the message board thing isn't cool and is not the sort of thing I care to support financially.

Yea, it may sound stupid haha, but the best way I could explain it is when Joe Torre quit the Yankees when he was offered incentives as he took it as an insult that he needed extra motivation to be a fan. It seems like the 10c is creating some sort of exciting new package to entice people to become fan club members. It may sound like a twisted and perverse view of things, but it's like some Pearl Jam Incentive program where we are being comforted about our exclusive treatment, when we were just fine with things being for all fans... 10c members or not.

this place is so slow... it's going to be hard to actually want to come here.
"I'm not present, I'm a drug that makes you dream"
  • Yea but look at the front page of the pit. It has messages back to Friday afternoon. Even if you combine this place's posts and the pits, it's still well below normal traffic. It's like this merge has caused Pit Members to vanish on both fronts.

i think the idea of being forced to join the 10c pissed a lot of posters off.

  • It definitely seems like it. I thought it would be one of those "I'll complain about it yet follow along with it anyway" type of dealies like ticket prices and such, but it really seems like people are taking this to heart.

Have any of the members that are not signed up in the 10c actually come over and not been able to post?

Sea invited everyone over. I don't think there should be any difference in non 10c members to be able to post :)

    Wish you were here...

There is. My non-member account and primary pit account cannot reply to anything. :(

    10c only board? :? :(

    bad bad bad move!

AGREED!! Hi, I am Kushikushun, but you see I cant post here under my own name. This is my husband nick bc I BOUGHT HIS MEMBERSHIP FOR HIM...grrrr.
So, I am not a member but have been the one posting on the forum. But cant post here under my own name, since I am not a paying member WTF?!

Edit: Ok, I just emailed 10C to see if they can fix this and put my e-mail addie in the membership info instead of his. That would be the easiest way for me to be able to post under my own nick, wouldnt it?

Why should anyone pay to post. It seems like blackmailing ppl into paying membership fees?!!

Edit: Just toning down a bit...haha. Still don't agree with the membership only thing on here though. I think we will loose a lot of ppl.
    that's a very good point.
What about couples? they might want to post as individuals, not under the same name, but they don't need 2 memberships!

As for saying there's plenty of other boards.
It's not the same having the community split, different boards are for different things....and some of the silly threads about Ed's pants for example are not going to be welcome at all in some of those boards!

that's what Kat put on the old board:

the irony  (I'm going to get myself banned again ain't I? ;) )

I think I am moving in full time now.

i understand about the back of the floor... that's definitely not a "benefit" ...
but then again... if you got lucky for the Vic show... you would only be able to do so as a member

i just don't think the forum being members only has anything to do with making money... i think it has to do with having control over the message board... as well as trying to focus the forum on pearl jam and it's music... i am guessing that that's the intent...

for example... i like to "have fun" on message boards... in the past i have gone too far as i have an aversion to dumb people... anyway... so while on vacation from here i went to sign up for The Who message board and make some new friends... but you had to pay to play... so i moved on... i know i'm a special case but maybe that has something to do with it?

obviously people are going to do what they want to do...

personally... i just don't think it's a big investment and the potential for returns is high

unfortunately it doesn't sound like your number is better than mine so you quitting has no benefit for me

    oh well

High returns? I don't know about that. True, I landed Vic tickets but 1) I figure lightning doesn't strike twice and I got mine. 2) I only even tried because I live in Chicago and it was easy, so I'll leave room for someone else next time. 3) It was cool, but it won't kill me to miss that sort of thing in the future... Lolla was a better show I thought... if you factor my membership fees into the mix it cost me about $300.

Generally, fan clubs just aren't worth it to me really. The forum is the biggest thing keeping me tied into the die hard fan scene and I'm not smitten enough with it to want to pay $25 a year to keep it up.

My membership number is 187XXX, for whatever that's worth. I hope to help people out with my leaving.

how does 187 get you back of the floor? my wife is 365 and she gets back of the floor in boston ... and i would guess chicago and boston have similar numbers? as well as boston gets a lot of northeast 10 clubbers

usually with my 200 i get first couple of side sections

so if this board turns out to be free... are you leaving?

and why do you buy an international membership if you're in chicago?

Maybe it's not back of the floor, maybe it's more to the middle. But unless you're about the first 10 rows, being on the floor sucks. The seats are cramped together, no room to stand or move, can't see if there's anyone taller than you ahead of you. I hate the floor. I'd rather be on the side. My shows in 06 were Cleveland and Detroit. No idea where I'd have been in Chicago.

Who said anything about international membership? I buy US membership.

I generally haven't decided whether or not to stay. This place is lame so far... nobody here. And I still don't like the thought of a private, pay-to-post board for 10c members. If it turns out to be free and becomes more lively, maybe I'll stick around. But if it continues to be paid and stays this dead, I see no reason to stay.
