problem with windows

While trying to upgrade Msn 6.0 to 7.0, the program crashed. Windows was rebooted, but after windows loaded windows, there were serious "operating" issues. Overall, windows ran quite poorly (it was slow) - and Norton antivirus, which normally loads automatically, did not load at all (and could not be opened manually). A number of other programs had running issues (eg. Microsoft Word), mainly related to speed/constant crashing.

Anyone know what's up?

(i was using Windows XP home)

Sorry, I'm not too experienced with anything like that, but nothing's worse than starting a thread no one responds to. All I can suggest is if you did a manual (with the physical 'Reset' button) reset, try doing it the official way through the Start menu. Hope someone pulls through for you!

Try a system restore to fix the current issue.

    Start Menu>All Programs>Accessories>System tools>System Restore

Choose a restore date before you crashed your system.

If a man speaks in a forest and there is no woman around to hear him, is he still wrong?

This is just a wild uneducated guess, but could windows messenger (not msn but the program that came with xp home) have something to do with this?

    They should not conflict.

What do you have for a processor?

Do you do system updates? If you do not have these fix packs, that may be the issue.
The only thing I enjoy is having no feelings....being numb rocks!

And I won't make the same mistakes
    (Because I know)
Because I know how much time that wastes
    (And function)
    Function is the key
