problem with new macbooks?

does anyone have one of the new macbooks? ive heard they have issues ripping cd's... not just ones with scratches but brand new ones straight from the factory. im thinking of getting one to replace my dell cos i hate pc's, but that sounds like quite a pain in the ass...

    ive just heard some people having a lot of trouble with their drives. ill take my chances. i hate pc's.

    Also, a couple of tidbits:
    - MacBooks now run Aperture since its update to version 1.5. This is very good news if you are photographer wanting to use Aperture but dont have an extra $1000.00 for the MacBook Pro.
    - If you go for the larger hard drive and install bootcamp you will have an effective system for running Mac OS X and Windows both natively.
    - Many of the hardware problems occurring on MacBooks are caused by their rather unique RAM slots. They are located next to the battery and it can be easy for RAM to not be inserted properly or come loose. Always check that first if your MacBook is acting up. Make sure you get your RAM from a reputable source.
    - MacBooks are available with a standard screen or a gloss screen. There is no extra charge for the Gloss screen and it is preferable for graphic-oriented work.

    YES ! I hate pcs. I had before and I changed for an iBook one year ago. that's so much better... no one problem in 12 months. I don't even have an anti-virus...

    yeah, my pc was loaded with viruses after about a week of use. in 5 years with a mac i never had one problem. i havent had my pc 5 months and it's caused me no end of headaches. im buying my new comp today :)

    i think im going to bump up the ram when i buy it, maybe not maxed out, but a bit larger. i think ill opt for the smaller hard drive though. we'll see. i dont feel like id need two operating systems, though if i have issues interfacing with my uni software i suppose that could come in handy... i may go for the glossy screen too. i dont do any graphics work, but ive seen them in class and they look bitchin. is there any reason to get the other screen if im not a big graphics user?

    I use a 12 inches screen and it's ok (mainly for surfing on internet, making a few word and excel files, etc.)

    The gloss screen smears and gets dirty a little easier and is less viewable in direct sunlight. The standard screen is often favoured by video editors as it often shows clips as they might appear on a regular screen.
    In short, the Gloss screen is the way to go. Viewing pictures, DVD's and web pages is clearer and crisper.

    I use both Macs and Windows, and truthfully, the only thing I like Windows better for is torrent downloading. On my Mac I use Azureus, which I'm not a fan of. On Windows I use BitLord which is a great program in my opinion. But, I think it's a personal preference thing. Anyways, if you have both Mac and Windows, you have the advantage of having almost 100% of all software available.

    im not going to install windows on mine unless it proves necessary. in the meantime, does anyone know where i can get a good download program for a mac? in the past ive used limewire, but ive noticed that it runs HORRIBLY on macs and slows everything down painfully. any other good ones?

    Mac OS X Tiger/Leopard are MUCH better than Windows XP, or Windows Vista could ever hope to be. Because Mr. Gates is too lazy to fix his godamn software...
