Eddie Vedder's Song (MP3) For The Chicago Cubs Available Now!

Yeah, they played the first part just a minute or so ago on WGN. Len mentioned the new song from Eddie Vedder and how everyone already knows the words despite it just coming out.

Being at the game on Saturday and hearing the song on the speakers made me think that everything is coming together.

Are you seriously trying to tell me that the White Sox would travel that well? They are in the same market.

for a series in milwaukee, yes they would travel well. cleveland had to play a "home" series last year in milwaukee. the games vs the angels drew 15-20k per game, mainly from milwaukee fans .
the next home series was the sox. and the weather in cleveland was still pretty shitty(snow was still coming down). cleveland opted to NOT play that series in milwaukee, and had 3 frozen games at the jake before 6-10k fans. the brewers and mlb were all set to have the series at mille rpark, but cleveland didnt want 30-40k sox fans(as well as neutal cubs and brewer fans) making the 90 mile trip.(that series would have been a friday-sunday series, and the weather in chicago was much more suited to driving than in cleveland).

And this is coming from an outside observer I could care less about the Cubs, Sox, or Cardinals.

It's not so much jealousy from a winning standpoint, but there is jealousy there. It's obvious(and possibly semi-understandable to a degree) that White Sox fans despise Cubs fans. They are the younger, unappreciated child from across the tracks that yearns for respect, but they could win 10 championships and would still be a second tier organization in Chicago. Chicago, and much of the Midwest, is in love with the Cubs, regardless of whether they win or not. And that just drives Cardinals and Sox fans crazy. Why? You tell me, I bleed Cubbie blue.

Edit: And the Cubs have drawn much more fans the past five years than the Cardinals. Look it up.

Using a situation that didn't actually happen as proof of the validity of the argument is basically a straw man argument, which is a logical fallacy. I don't think that Sox fans would travel in comperable numbers to St. Louis or Milwaulkee, and what bears this out is the fact that the Pale Ho's (pretty punny, I know) just don't have as large a fan base as the Cubs do, and you don't need a census report to figure that one out. If, God forbid, I was a White Sux fan, I would take comfort in the fact that I was a die hard fan of a fringe minority team, rather than try to manipulate things into suggesting that my team really had as large a fan base. Fandom isn't an election, unfortunately, because if it was the Cubs would be playing the Red Sox every year in the World Series, and all would be right with the world.

It's just not real baseball with a DH.

Veto power proves nothing. I'd rather play a home game in the cold than a neutral game in warm weather. It's still no indication of how well the sox would travel.
