iPod

Yes, I have gone digital. My questtion is: if something happens to my computer can I put the songs from my iPod back into iTunes or are the songs gone from computer gone for good.

    yeah, i use winamp with the iPod plugin to do it,

    you can get both from http://www.winamp.com

    its a pain in the arse but it gets the job done

    What I did:

    Create a directory such as C:\Music. From there, I went into each artist, then album. For example:

    C:\Music\Pearl Jam\Ten contained my Ten.
    C:\Music\Pearl Jam\VS contained my VS.

    etc. You get the idea.

    When I open iTunes, I can see all my songs in one list, regardless of where they are on my hard drive. But it's easier (at least for me) to put them into one directory.

    From there, when you copy (import) the songs onto your iPod, they're still on your computer. This way, you can open iTunes and play your songs straight off your hard drive to your computer speakers. Likewise, if something happens to your iPod, you can easily move them back on to your iPod.

    i believe the question is about whether or not songs on an iPod can be put back on a computer if you needed to. to which the answer appears to be yes...but it's not easy.

    I don't have my music and videos in my PC, after I load my Ipod, I burn a multissesion DVD data with all the MP3s and MP4s, I have like 5 DVD datas cointaining more than 25 GB, so is easy for me , because i hate to sync and considering that i share itunes with my wife ipod, i don;t want to get my stuff deleted and my ipod full of shit.

    I do what antero does, back up to dvd. Depending on how big your ipod is, it's the way to go. Even if you need multiple dvds. I have to keep the music on my PC 'cause otherwise my shuffle will erase it all! But if it dies, thankfully there is backup! I don't know if you can go backwards from the shuffle to the PC....but I imagine you've a bigger ipod.

    Enable iPod for Disk Use and add songs without using iTunes. In the drive that your iPod is located make a folder called My Music. [On my computer its G:/My Music.]

    P.S: Using a similar method, you can boot an iPod Linux Variant on to your device.
