Any ideas as to where would be a good place to buy land for building a prospective house?

I work for the loss mitigation department for the construction division of a very large and prominent mortgage company. I deal with properties we lent money on for houses that were supposed to be built but never were. Anyway, I see tons of people who bought vacant lots in Florida a few years ago with the intention of building houses on them and they never did, now those lots aint worth a damn. Some of them are selling for under $10k now and they bought them for over $60k, much more in some cases. Anyway, Florida has a huge surplus of vacant lots at low prices. I'd call a realtor out there to help you find some of them. Good luck.0

I'd say Florida but kep in mind weather considerations like hurricanes, some tornados and I believe it leads the US in lightening strikes.
