Losing your hair sucks

I've had a slowly receding hairline up front for a few years now..it's not too bad yet and a lot of friends my age are way worse off than me, but the inevitability of knowing I'll probably lose it all just sucks. Ready to just give myself a crewcut and say fuck it.

My hairline had been slightly thinning, but in recent months I started doing things and now it seems a lot fuller, almost back to my teenage years.

    1. Massage your scalp with a vitamin rich shampoo. I used to be scared to scrub thinking it would make my hair fall out, when in fact only weak hairs fall out that were going to fall out anyway. Cleaning your scalp good gets rid of the oil that blocks your hair follicules from growing. That's why bald people have shiny heads. Their scalps produce lots of oil which prevents hair growth. Also massaging your scalp promotes circulation, which is also good for hair growth.

    2. Don't wear a hat for long periods when you are sweating. While the pressure from the hat will not cause hair loss, it helps trap sweat and dirt into the pores on your head, preventing hair growth. I stopped wearing a hat when I jog.

    3. Drink lots of water!

    4. Eat healthy! Mixed nuts and veggies.. avoid red meat.

    5. Avoid stress.

Other than that, its mostly genetic and there's not much you can do, but these tips will help.

Has anyone here used regaine? or know someone close that has used it? A friend that works in Pfizer as a marketing manager for regaine says it helps preventin hair loss, its eficient but you must use it all your life otherwise if you stop using it in ten year, you will get bald very quickly and look as if you never used it

My husband was bald by age 20. His hair still grows around his head but none on the top so he just shaves it. I think it is very sexy and I know that lots of other women think so, so don't worry about it, make it a positive thing. Just shave your head :D

A cure will be out in 3 years, bro. No worries.

In the meantime, keep what you have by using Rogaine.

I got sick of men with shaved heads about 10 years ago and they just seem to be multiplying! It looks better than comb overs I'm sure but it's not flattering to everyone.

I think it must really suck to lose your hair. My husband's hairline started receding about 5 years ago and I know it kind of bums him out even though he's accepted it. What else can you do? But he's still just as hot to me. I wouldn't care if he grew the rest of his hair out, wrapped it around his head and stuck a bone in the top! :D

Yup. I was sick last year and lost half of my hair -- no fun. Fortunately, most of it is growing back.

As for men who lose their hair: Right before I got married, someone tried to tweak me about my fiance's receding hairline. I just replied that baldness is a sign of virility. :-)

I have a lot of insecurities, so I am very happy to not be losing my hair. It's gray, but it's not going anywhere! :p
