the latest news I heard is that he was renting Mary Kate Olsen's apt and the masseuse that found him called Mary Kate before she called 911-which is unbelieveable! and they found a rolled up $20 bill but no drugs on it.

I don't see why anyone has to get on someone else's case if they get upset. I teared up a little bit watching the news and I wasn't a big fan of his, but to me it's sad. If anyone in PJ died I would be really upset and crying.

They just said Helena Christensen was supposed to meet up with him last night unti she found out what happened. That is so weird, that's Michael Hutchence's ex-girlfriend.

  • One of my co-workers came up to me yesterday & was like "my friend just called & told me Heath Ledger died." Of course I said "Nooo." & Looked up MSN online to see & sure enough there it was. I literally got shivers...I watched the news about it & one of the shows had this little sad montage of him with a Ben Harper song as the music, (I hadn't realized they worked together,) it brought tears to my eyes. Another actor with so much promise taken waaaay too soon. & Then the daughter & the family. Beyond tragic all around. :(

Sadly I know this, but the only connection to the Olsen's was that their body guard, a trained EMT worker and close neighbor/friend (something along those lines) was called after the people who found Ledger called the police.

Anyway, I think I read it on TMZ.com, or maybe CNN.com.

There's a pretty nice article on CNN.com. A bunch of random people sent in small stories about Heath, when they met him, when they worked with him.. It's a good read.

That was a nice tribute, thank you
Oh goodness. It's so sad. You look at the story on TV and it's surreal, like you can't believe he's really gone. It makes me sad to think about his baby growing up without him too. Reminds me of when Kurt Cobain died and Michael Hutchence too.

Honestly, I find myself questioning how I feel about this. I am saddened, but it's because someone I didn't know at all died. I think it just has me questioning myself a little bit. His death is just one of so many that affect people every day. He is honestly the first major (too young to die) star that died in my coherent age. I barely remember Kurt, and I can only watch stuff about John Lennon's death.

    Life goes on I suppose.

Kurt for my generation was like one of those, you remember every detail of it, type of things. He died on April 5th (which is Mike McCreadys b-day). So did Layne Staley.

For me I was a big INXS fan and I had just gone to a concert a few months previously in NY. I was so very sad about it. In this case it was sad for me to hear b/c Heath was so young, he had everything to live for and a 2 yr old baby girl that will barely remember her father.

the death of a young person is tragic no matter what the cause.
and it hits close to home whether you personally know the person or not.

famous people come into our homes and lives in films and tv and music and they do affect our lives.

some of us are just more emotional and/or empathetic...
some of us feel things more strongly and our emotions are closer to the surface.

it doesn;t make anyone wrong or right or strong or weak...
it's just what makes us different from each other.

it's just not right to make someone feel bad or wrong for having strong emotional reactions.

totally true. if somebody in my area dies whom i've seen occasionally on the street, and now is gone it always makes me sad. just because you know you'll never see this people again. even if i haven't talked to them a word in my whole life. with famous people it's the same. i've seen them on tv, and now there gone. it's just a strange thing. thinking about the left ones is sad. it doesn't matter if they had money, or were famous. they have loved ones who now are left behind. and if people who are far too young die, that's even more tragic. poor little daughter.

sigh, I was avoiding this thread, but i have to wonder - why would there be less sympathy as a result of the drug problems?

(I don't know if it was drug use, over a period of time, or a mistaken sleeping pill accident)

self inflicted and poor reflection on a person? I am truly curious as to why without knowing circumstances you can state that?
Bearing in mind this is in the hypothetical situation that it was, say, heroin.
I doubt anyone put the needle in his arm, so thats where the self inflicted thing would come in and as for a poor reflection on the guy, do you think being found dead from an overdose is a flattering way to be remembered? I never said he deserved his death, but I doubt you could come up with an argument that would suggest a drug overdose is not a poor reflection on the guy.

  • Australia is so saddened by Heath Ledger passing.

His folks have been so strong for the media. They made a statement not long after it happened and then asked for their privacy to grieve.

He had pneumonia and was taking pills to help him sleep. I know alot of people have mentioned he was also taking pills for anxiety.

I could not see Heath Ledger killing himself.
    I do not believe it.

    It was an accidental overdose.
    And its so so tragic.

Australia has just lost a special mate, and the rest of the world, a brilliant actor.

    RIP Heath.

A friend of mine's 19 year old son died last year of an accidental overdose of Xanax. Its way easier to do than a lot of people think. It's believed that my friend's son only accidentally doubled his dose (taking a dose--forgetting about it and taking another dose soon after the first). And so I can totally see a situation where he took his anxiety meds and a sleeping pill and died. It doesn't take much of those kinds of medication to really mess with a person's system. So that's what I'm going to believe until I have more proof of something else happening. A tragic accidental overdose seems the most likely cause.

Does anybody remember Roar? Heath was in this TV show called Roar when he was just a kid. I think he was 19 when he did it. It didn't last. Well, it was kinda crappy. The special effects were bad! It was sort of like a Hercules or a Xena, and Heath played this young Celtic warrior. The show was bad, but I watched it anyway because of him. He was beautiful! And I knew then that he'd overcome that show and be famous some day. He just had "IT!" You know, the proverbial "IT" that some people have. Yep, he had it.

I'm very sad for his loss. My prayers are with his family.

just heard on the radio the toxicology report came back and there weren't enough 'toxins' in his body to cause death. they are labeling it natural causes. said his heart stopped...may have just been a heart attack. at 28. :(

i didn't read thru this thread.
    very sad story.
but the part of the whole thing that bugs me the most is how the housekeeper / masseuse called one of the OLSEN TWINS several times before ever calling 911.
then the OLSEN TWIN had to go & call her "security people" before calling 911 as well.
granted, he was likely already dead when they found him, but good god...why would you not call 911 right. away. thats just d-u-m-b.

    "security people?"

probably more concerned with "appearances". in that weird rarified world of celebrities.
someone here said the toxicology levels weren't high enough to have killed him.
i'll bet they were & it was an accidental O.D. and that it was the prescription drugs that did him in.
some of the drugs Rx's he got in europe. what, all that free medical care over there...and what are their docs...candy-men? :p
anyway...he shouldn't have taken so many Rx's at once, imo. i woulda been too scared to.

In that world, you clean up the mess before the cops come.
    That was her clean-up crew.

    I guess

They know who to call when things go bad.
    No question about it.
