I hate to dislike a PJ song but honestly Eddie is right- this song is bad. I don't understand why anyone would want to hear it live. Sure its a rare song but just look at the rest of Lost Dogs- those are some great rare ones.

yes those are rare but this is rare becasue its a funk sounding song, very differant for them, almost like a chilli peppers song

Of course it sucks ... but you have to realize where a song like that came from.

It's basically a throw-away song about their drunk-ass bus driver ... who they secretly believe is eating people.

From the the band who wins the award for "Most Super-Serious Band of the '90s." I had this song on some shitty bootleg back in the day ... it's a great piece of nostalgia. Not a great song.

If you only wandered into your PJ fandom in 1998 or so, you don't get it.

EDIT: To explain further ... Back in about 1994 or so, I remember having an all-night discussion with my friends basically revolving around the question of, if we saw Eddie Vedder in public, would we bother approaching him? He had such this super-serious image that we were afraid he'd consider us an asshole for even recognizing him. And it would ruin our whole perception of the band. Then, they come out with this total douchebag of a song ... sampling the Shaft theme song ... with a blender in the background. And we said, "Hey, this guy actually has a sense of humor." That's all this song is about. Of course it ain't a good song.

    df and bugs are wonderful!

Anytime i play either on of these songs for people who are just casual fans, they seem to enjoy them because they are so different. Sometimes they get sick of me playing pj all the time so i spice it up with these two gems.

Dirty Frank goes back much earlier than 1994. Live it dates back to March of 92, but I don't know exactly when the studio version was recorded. It is on the Alive single/EP along with the re-recorded EFlow, Wash and, eh, Alive.

I think it was all part of that first recording session with Dave. I could be wrong, though. I thought that's where Breath, SOLAT, and Even Flow (re-recorded) came from. Frank Dahmer was their tour bus driver.

It's a good live song cuz it's goofy and "rare."

I fuckin love everything about this song. Who cares if it's cheesy, sounds like the Peppers, or includes arcane references to both serial killers and pop culture...it's catchy and funny, and the music is great..."I'd eat you...."

Totally disagree with the title of this thread. Love Dirty Frank. Was at Gorge I and was blown away by the version they played. Dark and humorous at the same time. Love the funky sound. Just hope that DF makes an appearance in concert this June . NYC would be the perfect setting.
