Hey if you think about it, pretty soon 7 bucks is going to be worth 1 gallon of gas.

Chill out, I'm not picking a fight. It sounded like you were walking out when the song came on. If that is not the case then ok.

    Sorry. :)

He had just given me the change and the bar wasn't crowded. He definitely knew.

Oh yea, fuck that guy then. And fuck the guys giving you a hard time. Like everyone else creates thread that could rival the fucking best seller list.

Come on man, don't get all crappy on us. Just turn on your Ipod and listen to some Pearl Jam songs. It's gonna be alright.

    Just got a new I-Pod!

Yippee!! Except for that my i-tunes crashed.... And my old ipod had over 1700 PJ tunes. That's going to be fun to reload! Just happy I was able to get a new one!! (And some dude from the gym loaded it with like 300 songs for me. But only 5 Pearl Jam. Lucky me! :) )

I happen to agree with the OP, it's bullshit that he turned the song off, regardless of who played it or what song it was

he would not have recieved one cent from me AND I would not go there again

it's the principle of the matter

it's plain and simple customer service. Unfortunately that's becoming a thing of the past in this country and it's going to bite us in the ass one of these days

The request isn't the real issue.

Anyone can request whatever they want.

The issue is the bartender who was so disrespectful as to just shut a song off that I had clearly just paid money to hear about three minutes earlier.

We are friendly and we tip well. I think it was really rude and not too bright on his part. I wonder if the other guy left him $10 EXTRA on his tip for the bartender dicking us over like that.

dude how do you know that the chick hadnt put ten bucks in prior to your selections and the machine wasnt playing them-perhaps the barkeep was gonna play those songs

most bartenders know how to work the machine-and would probably play whatever you wanted if you were tipping him well

and in the future, i would never piss off a bartender over a dollar-they know tricks

and in my experience putting dollar in those machines can be a crapshoot

Well...I'm not a dude. I'm a cute friendly chick (and we have met...you and I...anyway...)

They hadn't. The bar is small and I was sitting right in front of the jukebox.

And we just left him a normal crappy tip like a lot of people leave. This is the exact type of bar I have bartended in a lot.

Believe me. I know exactly what went down and how it went down. It was just run of the mill disrespectful bullshit.

    OOOPS!
We met? At the meet up? SORRY. Please refresh my horrible memory.

anyway, if thats the case, dick move
    bad service=bad tips
  • I have experienced similar to this. I say you were justified and the bartender was short sighted. If you dont like the music that your bar patrons play.....work elsewhere.

Moronic thing to do. Many a bar have lost my business (either in repeat business, or order size) due to the cooler than thou factor.

I think you confused us at the, "Last night my girlfriend and I got there about 10 pm."

Hence all of us thought you were a dude. Who just happens to call bars "cute."

I say go ahead and piss em off. Why you would want to hang out at a bar where the bartender dictates the music (unless that's understood before you go in) anyway?

    :D That's funny!

Yeah. I noticed that "girlfriend" thing myself. Sorry. And for the record... I'm not a lesbian.

Not that there's anything wrong with it! :)

    You know...

I know that when the girl said to her boyfriend... "No. She played THIS" He had probably said something to her like "Oh ... It's that chick with the Pearl Jam." or something.

He wanted it turned off just because I had played Pearl Jam. He knew exactly who played it and just wanted to be an ass.

The bartender went along with it. They were probably friends. Oh well. $10. That's 3 gallons of gas in my car and not his!

    HA!

You are also a Pearl Jam loving girl who takes her juke box seriously and has made a thread that I didn't think would go past 1 page, now turn into 3 at this point.

exactly... if there's a jukebox, it's the clientele who dictate the music, no fucking barman who thinks he's wonderful who, at the end of the day, is just a barman. If that happened to me, I'd kick up a fucking STORM... complain to the manager... leave NO tip... and never go back again. Doesn't the tipping system basically make you his boss... so fire him.

That is what we ended up leaving the bartender last night...

    Here's the story:

I recently moved and there is a cute little pub across the street. Even prior to moving in I started to hang there a bit and now go there with some regularity.

People tend to play good music on the jukebox and a lot of people play Pearl Jam. I have a habit of playing a lot of Pearl Jam on the jukebox. It costs $1 a song.

Last night my girlfriend and I got there about 10 pm. We were drinking, playing pool, and having fun. She bought the bartender a shot of Patron and things were going well Around 10:30 I played Corduroy. No other Pearl Jam had been played all night. Around 12:15 I put $3 in the jukebox. I played the Foo Fighters, then I Got Shit and SOLAT. When I walked away from the jukebox the Foos were playing and I heard a chick at the bar say to her boyfriend "No. She played THIS."

So. We were going to leave when my tunes were over. I Got Shit comes on and THE dude asks the bartender to cancel the song and the bartender says "Sure!" and axes the tune! I was like "What?!" then I said "and at a dollar a tune?" The guy goes "oh...what you want your dollar. here." So of course I took it. I also took $10 out of the bartenders tip. And we split.

What do you guys think about this story?

HE WOULD Of GOT ZIPPO,,AND I WOULD HAVE GIVEN the 2 customers a piece of my mind
