I thought is was bad to touch your nasty parts in church.

do you do that? pretty inappropriate.

touch: as in the sign of peace, laying hands on the forehead as a blessing, or holding hands as one congregation during the Lord's Prayer.

But you can't prove any of it. That is my point. You will counter by saying, "I don't have to prove it; I know in my heart that I am right."

And, you will be correct. You don't have to prove it. Believe whatever you want to believe. What I'm suggesting is that most people inherently assume that the way they process the world is the correct one. What they believe is right. How they see the world is how it really is...

How can I disprove that? I can't. But just know, just because you believe something in your heart of hearts...

    it doesn't make it true.

And if I was just as convinced that there is no God as you are convinced that there is, where does that leave us?

We both know we're right, but we can't both be right. Right?

Some people say: Seeing is believing. But sometimes you have to believe to see.

I was just adding that some people do experience God through the senses. I'm not trying to prove the existence of God through physical senses -- nor do I think you can disprove God through physical senses.

Okay... I got sensual mixed up with sensuous... which are basically the same thing. I was thinking you got a boner for Jesus in church... and to me.. well, i figured since Jesus and God see everything we do and think... well, rubbing one off in chruch was not such a good thing.
Maybe enlightenment would have been a better adjective. i've never seen the term Enlightened on the cover of any porn videos.

Dinosaur: The term is derived from the Greek words δεινός (deinos meaning "terrible", "fearsome", or "formidable") and σαύρα (saura meaning "lizard" or "reptile").

Big lizards who lived a long time ago (but not in a galaxy far away ;) )

Please excuse the sarcasm. im just joking :D

I would like to go to the Creationism museum to see the exhibit that depicts Adam, naming the animals. Adam is sitting there pointing at a cow and a pig and a Triceretop and a dove and a dog.
I would think that somewhere in the Bible... at least one person would have mentioned Tyrannosarus Rex. I mean, come on... T.Rex was a monster... the predator of all predators... the fucking guy was at the very top of the food chain. One mention.. even in passing... like how about the Tyrannosarus Rex lying with the lamb... man, that would be something, right?

I feel this has went a little off topic. I didn't really want to get into the "is there a God?" question, I just wanted to know if your religion, ANY RELIGION, made you a better person, family memeber, friend, etc. I was just wondering what people get out of it.

I just totally find it strange (but mostly comical) that people argue about religion, when no one is EVER going to win! :D
    Great point.

I only know a few catholics and former catholics. A very high percentage of the atheists I've seen online were former catholics.

My question is for anyone that goes to church/temple/mosque etc., what do you personally gain from your faith? I know this is a big question, and I'm not looking for a debate about faiths here, just what kind of personal satisfaction do you get from going? I'm thinking about going, because I want to form my own person opinion.
why don't you just go? Try all different kinds of religions also... cos most of them welcome everyone! It's strange but I DO experience a sense of peace... and love :o

In my opinion, a person needs to learn of God from God, not some man.
very very well said... it can't even be put into words and each person will go through their own personal experience as to why they believe or they don't believe. It's not like God came to me and I got him to autograph his book and pose for a picture. It's all feelings and just something I know and can't be proven til each person discovers (if they're willing) for themselves!

Does going to church make anyone a better person?

I think it all depends on where your heart, mind and soul are when you are there. Like there have been times in my life when I have been in church, either of the three attended in my life; Greek Orthodox, Catholic, or Christian Assembly and at certain times I was right in there with the Holy Spirit--praying, reflecting on what I needed to change in my life, or crying in need and then there were those times that I went there as a check off of the "to do list" and was full of shit and didn't do anything spiritual there.
That is what I find so uncanny about church attendance; God knows if you are full of shit so if you are going just to fulfill a rule you have made yourself follow, then you might as well not go. You know?
And while I think that going to church reminds me of how I am suppose to be, (if I am in a church with a good preacher or priest addressing us ), it in no way is the thing that wil give me that A+ going to heaven pass, it is a means to express my faith if that is what I choose to use, not a requirement for entrance. I have seen both good people and assholes in church who are arrogant full of shit souls and our hearts are what is of importance.

That's kind of what Jesus told the Pharisees, remember?

How God is considered "real" but Santa Claus isn't is beyond me. At least Santa Claus brings presents instead of asking for 10%. I guess people just want to feel like they are important and are willing to believe everything was created just for them and they will live eternally.

If God fought Superman who would win? I think Superman. Sure God could have kryptonite that would kill Superman but all Superman would have to do is not believe in God and God would cease to exist.
