so far there's 3 right now and 2 just sold the other day. For something that everyone says is such a treasured collectible, a lot of people are selling. I understand that times are tough right now and I can see why they might sell. But the whole "hard to find" cliche kind of goes out the window when every week one seems to be up for sale. That's not hard to find. I have one and I can't imagine parting with it. But I guess it's good if you're looking for one and you're willing to drop some cash.

  • I think people are seeing the album go for $700 and trying to cash in.

I think some people may decide to put it on ebay after they see it going for $700 or $800. That could explain why they are often sold in batches.

I agree with you, this has happened before, where months go by and not one Benny shows up, but then someone brings theirs out for sale and gets $700-$800 and a couple more people list theirs trying to cash in, when price goes back down cause people figure they are not that hard to find, everyone waits again until price goes back up.

With that said it can for $2000 and I still wouldn't sell mine :D

  • I would sell it for that much money...WHY? because no record is worth that much money. It was recorded digitally, and is a direct transfer to vinyl from a digital recording...Therefore, it is not a raw analog recording, which is what gives vinyl its distinctive flavor! It sounds exactly like a CD, So WTF is it going for so much for? I dunno.

gee, thanks,...seems kind of obvious the $950 was going to charity since i made mention of the item being up for auction in the 1st place ;)

i made mention of the $950 as the amount paid for the Benaroya vinyl, charity or otherwise, for those tracking such things,...

It went for $950 maybe because KJR is on 950 am? J/K But I think getting that one for $950 is a great buy. You get it from Pearl Jam them selves, it is number 4/2000 and you can claim $920 as a charity gift since it went for $30, so you get big tax break and alot of your money back. You buy for $700 on ebay you can't deduct any of it. I spent $1000 for my Portland tickets and got very nice deduction!!!

yeah but I don't think you can equate the two, Ebay does seem like its lets get on the money train, for the most part. Like just BECAUSE they can get that much they do.I realize some are just trying to get from under a life situation. But the others seem like they are trying to take advantage of fans, and NO we don't have to buy/bid. which leads to another problem .Sellers friends driving up the bids like the oil speculators.

good point. i guess it's best to leave an asterisk next to the $950 and reference the charity vs. eBay disntinction,...

The only reason why the LP sells for so much is because it is a status symbol among PJ fans. We all know that foolish PJ fans and their money are easily parted (especially by the word limited). Like you said, the audio is no better. There are no bonus songs. The cover and records are nice I guess. If I had a Benaroya record right now, I wouldn't be able to get it on Ebay fast enough.
