Yeah, that's definitely a stroke of bad luck right there. But whenever you drink under the age limit, you KNOW there's a risk. Yeah, everyone does it, but even so, you need to understand and accept the fact that if you're doing something illegal, you may get caught and you'll have to pay the consequences.

that was bullshit.
i wonder if the search warrant law can come into effect here?
it is a college dorm, but it is your living space you pay rent/tuition on.
Once you let them into the room, there is no need for a search warrant. Also, by living in the dorms you agree to live by a certain set of guidelines and rules which I bet are outlined in a housing agreement you sign before moving in.This is your notice that there is a problem with your signature. Please remove it.

Underage drinking? They're in college. How can anyone consider 18 and older underage?
It's completely ridiculous. Furthermore, police coming into your dorm room because they heard cans opening is fuckin' insane!

I am in college, and whenever I drink I damn well know what I'm doing and the consequences that can go with it. If I got caught I wouldn't go, "hey man, it's college, you can't charge me!"
I'm not going to argue about the rationality of the law. Yeah, it's dumb. But the fact is there IS a law in place, and if you choose to not abide by it you can't complain when you get busted for it. How can anyone consider 18 and older underage you ask? Because the law says so. Deal with it. Or protest it intelligently if you want... but intentionally breaking the law and then whining about getting busted for it isn't protest, it's stupid.

Last night was my last night of my freshmen year (today is my last day), and I had 3 people over including myself just drinkin some 40s not being loud or anything, playing poker and watching TV....we were done around 2am...I get a knock on my door at 4am, I open the door and its 2 RA's and 3 cops, and they say they heard cans opening...i was like I have no cans (which was true)...and they ransacked my shit! I just finished packing and they went through everything tearing it up and found 1 more 40 and I'm getting charged by my school for alcohol possession which I can be kicked out of housing for next year, and charged by fairfax county for underage alcohol possession and drunk in public...WHAT THE FUCK??
and why are you staying in university housing soph year? id get an apt. if possible and then its not a problem0 -

Of course you can complain, it's your right. Intentionally breaking the law and then saying how stupid the law is, is a way of protest, imo.
Either way, I think HailHailVitalogy isn't so much whining as he is shocked. The action of the police is too extreme, in my opinion and I'm sure in his opinion as well.THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!

I don't know about your school, but here, since its a state school cops can't go through anything without a warrant. If they see something in plane site they can confiscate it or fine your or whatever. I'd definitely look into that though. That's pretty fucked.
Also, what a douchebag your RA was. I mean, a) you're right, its college they should be cooler than that. b) at least come talk to you first, don't just call the cops right on you for a little alcohol.you couldn't swing if you were hangin' from a palm tree in a hurricane.0 -
