my dad and my kids got me a framed kenyon hall poster this year for my birthday - i nearly cried with happiness

ironic, and very sweet, because my dad thinks my pj obsession (especially the posters) is nonsense

I know the feeling well.... but believe

Long - but this thread was a good reminder :)

My family in Ireland surprised me with a vist here for a birthday.
A cousin surprised me with U2 tickets when I was home for a holiday.
An ex BF surprised me with a CD I didn't even know he knew existed one day.
Earlier this year my best friend surprised me with a trip out of the blue to the Dominican, all paid for.
My dad surprised me once by trying to look after my garden - we have different opinions of what weeds are apparently, but it was the thought that counts.
On a trip to LA last year, friends surprised me with a side trip to Palm Springs.
On that same trip my dad surprised me by arranging a rental car for me.
During some really tough times this year, my friends have surprised me by helping in various ways - $$, friendly support, an ear to scream in etc.
A friend bought me some boots I had been lusting over.
A stranger surprised me with a much much better EV experience than I'd ever expected this summer.
A neighbour surprised me by cutting down a tree he thought was dead this year - again, he really meant well and it was a lovely thing to do...moreso if the tree had actually been dead.
My direct reports and co workers surprised me with an awesome gift when I switched jobs earlier this year.
A friend surprised me with flowers at work for my birthday this year - even though I'd opted out of the birthday plan yrs ago and haven't aged in a while ;)
After a horrible car wreck that stole 2 yrs of my life a not too distant while ago, friends & family surprised me by taking the time help dress me, feed me, help me remember words and memory, distract me, entertain me, visit me, put up with my moods as I begrudgingly learned to swallow my pride and ask for and accept help - which unfortunately has only partially stuck, and be patient while I shut them out when I tried to fix everything myself and catch up on the work opportunities I'd missed. They have been awesome as I've spent this last year realizing how misplaced my priorities have been, and what is really important in life.

I have to say, I'm pretty blessed and so grateful that people seem to regard me as worthy of all these wonderful things. I never ever take that for granted and hope so so much that I contribute to their lives they way do mine.
you are one lucky person and not for receiving those things but for the company you keep with those who have thought so fondly of you! I suspect you are just as wonderful as they are or they wouldn't be doing so much for you! I'm extremely happy for you that you've been able to experience these kinds of surprises... I hope one day I can feel that kinda joy:D thanks for sharing!
