I tried to search for a thread like this, but couldn't find one.
What's your thoughts on it? I don't think it's always bad. Especially if you received something that's not your taste but you know a friend would like it.

lol, I think the coworker usually ends up being the recipient of the regift. Not always, but a lot of the time. poor fools
As long as you put some thought into who the new recipient will be there's no problem with it - gift dumping is a different issue though.Creating walls to call your own

ha..yeah that's how it usually goes..I never do it for family. Only casual friends and coworkers. How is gift dumping different then regifting..Is that when you unload a fruitcake? That is cruel.

Exactly why wouldn't somebody want the sloppy seconds of the item you hate.one foot in the door
the other foot in the gutter
sweet smell that they adore
I think I'd rather smother

The fact that you are thinking about it this much, makes it ok.
Personally I never do it. Just not my thing.0 -
Nope. I still have the Avril Lavigne CD my neice gave me when she was little. She knew I liked punk rock and she was just a little kid and thought I'd like it because to a 12 year old girl... Avril Lavigne was punk rock. I played it that one time at Christmas and it has sat in my CD case ever since.
I figure, one of these days, she'll look through my collection as see it still there.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

if you tell the person you are giving the gift to that it was given to you by someone else...not if you are trying to pass it off as your own purchase.
I don't like regifting because it makes me feel bad - like I am unappreciative.
but sometimes, i give gifts that i received but did not want - but i always tell people that it was a gift for me.IF YOU WANT A PLATE OF MY BEEF SWELLINGTON, YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO PAY THE COVERCHARGE.0 -
Funny story .....A guy who I use to work with Richard was a chronic re-gifter to the point he would not even open the gifts to save time on wrapping. One year at our company Xmas gift exchange he got his gift didn't open it ....and later that night gave the gift to a friend the friend opened it and it was a personalized coffee mug that said Richard!!! Yeah. I don't do that for someone's birthday or holiday though in place of another present. I just say that I received a gift that I think they would like and want them to have it.0 -

The one gift im thinking of doing it with is something i received from someone I hardly knew and they knew nothing about me. It was an obligatory gift. So the whole feeling unappreciative thing isn't coming into play for me. I just feel like Im being a cheap.
I was going to give it to a coworker, I dont think i want to go into the fact with them that it was a gift to me.Dig a ditch deep enough
