    I used to work with a fella who wore these white vinyl loafers (just like Chevy Chase in "Vacation"). I issued him a citation, and he quit a few days later....I was worried that I caused it!

    i used to wear these white penny loafers in high school, would put dimes in them. they were super fresh :p

    where did the whole white after labor day thing start anyway? is there some old wives tale about folks in medieval times not having white shoes cuz the plague would descend or some shit

    Well, if you wear a white pantsuit in the fall, it makes it easy for the fashion police, since all they have to do is spray-paint a few black horizontal lines, and voila', you have an instant jailbird outfit!

    it actually only applies to shoes...and it was a reflection of bridal shoes which were usually white kid boots regardless of the color of dress...(white wedding dresses coming into fashion because of Q. Victoria)

    brides marry (traditionally) in the spring and summer, so the white kid boots were expected to be worn then, and not during the other seasons.

    most people in warmer climates never really followed this rule...and I know that I NEVER followed it at all - I don't even think that I own a pair of white shoes, sandals included.

    Since he played in the CFL (the league that had 2 teams with the same name), he can take advantage of the little-known loophole which allows him to dress a certain way in order to live-up to a nickname.

    I went to work today and I seriously missed my flip-flops. I had to wear actual shoes. It was restricting, hot, and I resented those shoes! :D
