Sorry I know its a silly question but does anyone know who wrote this song? I know it was a cover by eddie on Into the Wild.

I just want to correct a writer who says that Eddie has a problem "whinging" because of this song but he didn't write it did he?

TIA!

Did he just write the lyrics, or is there an OG society out there? If there is another version, a link would be AWESOME!

  • This is the article I was referring to btw:

This is the comment I just sent:

    Hi,

I just want to correct a point made by Patrick Hayes in his article: A back-packer's guide to eco-death, with regard to his reference to Eddie Vedder:
"(A problem that the aging Pearl Jam front man Eddie Vedder, who performs the film soundtrack, remains afflicted with: the best he can do is whinge that ‘society you’re a crazy breed’.)"

I'd like to just point out that Mr Vedder didn't actually write this song. It's a cover. The "whinging" lyrics were written by a Jerry Hannan.

The comment made by Patrick Hayes in stating that "this is the best he can do" is totally insulting to Mr Vedder, who is one of the finest singers and lyricists around today, even if he is a tad underrated.

Please pass my comments onto Mr Hayes.

    Best regards,

PS: Mr Vedder is 42, hardly "aging" by anyone's standards!
