Forget Seniority, let's talk ticket prices

I don't have a problem with the ticket prices at all. Most acts charge well above $50 and $50 to see PJ is a bargain!0
-
after what i paid today for police tix be thankful for $65.... 0 0

compared to many other bands, PJ is extremely reasonable. I would love to have 1996 prices again, but lets be real here. Overall, I really don't have a problem with the price of PJ tix.East coast 08 please. (YESSSSS!!!!)0

i think that is something that should be done before we bother worrying about who sits where.
i understand touring costs have gone up, but have they really DOUBLED since 1998? Wouldn't leaving those extra trucks full of lights at home help the situation with the fans AND the environment?
if we are comparing PJ to their peers, the prices are reasonable...even good. but they have DRAMATICALLY jumped in the past years. prices have tripled, or more, since '98. tickets were $23 then. in '00 they were still at or below $30. in '03 they were upper $30's. now they are gonna be $70? its a bit crazy, especially when considering the preaching that was done in the early 90s about prices..."i want a dad who works at a gas station to be able to afford to bring his kid and buy a couple of shirts..." blah blah blah. that is not happening nowadays.
 and yes, i understand that things have changed...dollar is worth piss, gas prices, booking fees, etc. are all up. the band is in a different space personally, with more than themselves to think about. all good reasons to raise prices. but when they tour for a month and are each pulling down multi-million dollar paychecks, its a bit opposite what they stand for, which i still believe they do. either way i'm going to shows, so i guess it doesn't matter...6/26/98, 8/17/00, 10/8/00, 12/8/02, 12/9/02, 4/25/03, 5/28/03, 6/1/03, 6/3/03, 6/5/03, 6/6/03, 6/12/03, 6/13/03, 6/15/03, 6/18/03, 6/21/03, 6/22/03, 7/12/03, 7/14/03, 10/3/04, 10/5/04, 9/9/05, 9/11/05, 9/16/05, 5/16/06, 5/17/06, 5/19/06, 6/30/06, 7/23/06, 8/5/07, 6/30/08, 8/23/09, 8/24/09, 5/4/10, 5/7/10, 9/3/11, 9/4/11, 10/11/13, 10/17/14, 8/20/160

            When I saw what the prices were I did a doubletake. Then I remembered I used to fill my car for $30 and now it's $60 - same car. Then I remembered that I'd pay a lot more than that to see Pearl Jam and/or Ed's Solo tour.6/26-27/98, 6/13/99, 8/15/00, 10/12/00, 10/17-18/00, 12/09/02, 4/03/03, 6/09-10/03, 10/22/03, 9/28/04, 10/05/04, 8/29/05, 9/11-12-13/05, 5/27-28/06, 7/2-3/06, 7/22-23/06, VIC, 8/5/07, 6/24-25/08...0

If Ian MacKaye can tour the country and charge 10 bucks, Ed can't charge less than 65?
What a joke that man has become.

I paid 50 cents for a gallon of gas for my little dirt bike in 1979 and I have no problem paying $65 to see an amazing solo show with Eddie.. People are going to be paying $500 a ticket to see him on this tour after they all sell out in 1 minute on friday!! Put it in perspective and stop complaining!Buy the ticket, Take the ride..

 Woops!
 lol.
Its actualy 13% (not 16) and it is Wall Street Journal, link now archived but:WSJ wrote:Wall Street Journal - Jan 28, 2008
The move raises Hershey's wholesale prices 13% on a weighted average for its standard bar, king-size bar, six-pack and vending lines. ...
We are probably pushing something like 15% for the year in REAL terms, out the gate in 2008. Probably 7 by "their" math, and they will probably fudge them and say it is 4-5%.
People should understand that it isn't prices "going up", its some asshole behind a curtain stealing your wealth and handing it to rich bankers, and calling it "inflation".
 Ooh wee, magic!
You lost a shit load of money,
because i stole it and gave it to Elite St. !
 or the "Military Industrial Complex".
 Yay!
What time do the East Coast shows start? If I was to smile and I held out my hand If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?0

you know what? It really depends..
I live 4-5 miles away from wiltern.. so $65 wouldn't be that much compare to other fans that would need to fly from.. maybe east coast or I dont know where..
 but if I have the money.. I wouldn't care if it's a $50,000 a ticket..
of course I have to play guitar during even flow.. extended solo version."I had a false belief
I thought I came here to stay
 We're all just visiting
 All just breaking like waves.."

I seriously thougth to myself that the reason behind this is that they are still selling the gum they made in 1996. Just try chewing it....the person below me smells like cat pee and raisins...0

hey...don't all the proceeds go to WM3's legal defenses. i don't even think ed's really making a ton of money off of these 5 dates. maybe i'm totally wrong, but i'm pretty sure that's the case."there's no lights by the stairs? oh, they'll be fine..."-ed, 11/4/95 san jose0

Okay, so we want to talk money??? Well, think of you guys that are getting off easy paying $65 a ticket... if you're local that's great... I myself am not... My husband and I are coming from Jasper Alberta, here's a summary of our anticipated costs.....
driving to Edmonton & home ($150)
flying to Vancouver ($600 return for 2 tix)
cabfare around vancouver (??? - someone please tell me how much a cab right costs nowadays)
hotel room ($700 (for 3 nights)
food (yeah right, who needs to eat when there's drinking to be done)
 Drink (ALOT)
 babysitter for 4 days ($300)
oh, and then there's the itty bitty ticket costs... $144 with taxes...
so what's my total? About $2000 MINIMUM... And it's a WICKED DEAL in my mind!!!! So for all the rest of you travelling... we have officially been spoken for! ANd, yeah I agree that ticket prices have gone up, but I'm still not complaining, just think of the experience!!! (I didn't intend this message as rude, please don't take it that way, just to let you know that as a diehard PJ fan I'll do it again, even when the prices go up! Love to you all!)Edmonton ~ September 2005 (Thanks for the tambourine Eddie!!!)
