    I'm afraid this is more common than we realize. I read somewhere that most sexual abuse occurs by people that the family knows (babysitters, neighbors, etc.), and is often not creep old men, but teenage boys. :(

    In my very untrained opinion...I think pedophiles have their sick perversion from a very young age...I guess I'm trying to say I think it might be nature vs. nurture.

    I was a nanny in college...and the family had 3 kids...and their middle child, a little girl is strikingly adorable...blonde haired, blue-eyed...just gorgeous. Well, they lived in an upper-class neighborhood that was alot of young families and the doors were always open to each other's kids. As I was in the kitchen one day fixing lunch (which was literally in the next room), I went to check on the kids and found the neighbor kid, a husky guy about 10 trying to convince her to take her swimming suit off and that he wanted to kiss her!...she was 5! I immediately sent the kid home...and after I told her parents, never saw that creepy kid again.

    Oh god, that is horrible. I am so glad you were there to stop that.

    It is the older kids that you have to keep a close eye on. This is what scares me most about raising my 10 month old daughter.

    That goes to show you it is not only parents of kids in low income neightborhood with registered sex offenders that have to be careful. It is everyone.

    Summer of '92, I was ten. There were 4(2f + 2m, all same age) of us playing the board game Monopoly but I don't vividly remember how the kissing came about.

    I think the girls were losing or something, so we had to make some risky offers.

    my first kiss was 9th grade w/ a girl i went to school with, with the same name as mine no less, and i went to some dumb dance with her and her friends. I actually didnt like her but did like her friends and they kept feeding me BS about how "cute" we were together. plus I was at that point when you are starting to feel the pressure to have your first kiss and date and all that stuff so I went with it. At the end of the dance I asked her if she wanted to be my girl and planted a quick one on her and walked out the door. SMOOTH.
