Off the air

so the poltergeist thread got me thinking. i just bought this movie a few months ago cause my younger than me gf had not seen it.

anyhoo, in the movie when the tv station goes off the air and plays the national anthem, my gf does not remember stations going off the air !!!

blew me away.

Am I the only one that remembers this ??

    how old are you? I don't remember. Was this only for people who didn't have cable?

    If anything, this was for people WITH cable...I always remember Prism(east coast equivalent of the Z channel), Sports Channel, HBO, ESPN going blank at like 3 am because they didn't have anymore content.

    she will be 25 in feb. with that being said, my friend who is 37, a year older than me dont remember this either.

    i just always remember laying there trying to fall asleep and the station would go off the air. it sucked, cause then my mind would race and i would be up all night. lol. oh the good old days.

    now i wish that most of these shit channels would go off the air for a few hours a night ! less distraction, and i could maybe finish writing this fuckin' novel !!!

    ah, well I guess some people didn't stay up long enough or something..lol. I remember as a kid and not being able to sleep waking up and trying to watch tv. Now it's all infomercials..some of them are funny.

    yeah, the infomercials suck me in. ill be sitting here with the laptop, and my notes, and all my reff. material, and next thing i know instead of having a new chapter, i want to buy some steak knives that will cut through a shoe !!!! :(

    I Definitely remember it!.. Sucked when you woke up too early on Saturday to watch cartoons and all you had were the colored bars.

    Its funny u mention this today.... Last night I was watching one of the hbo channels (around 5am) and I left the room for a bit, came back and the "off the air" buzz was going on and I thought to myself "wonder what movie has the off the air noise in it" when I got back to see the tv the hbo channel was actually off the air from 5:30 am till 7 am....and I thought to myself "wow I haven't seen this in years!"
    So its funny to me u bring this up!
