Argh! Resumes!

I just found a posting for a job I really want to apply for, but I'm having a hell of a time coming up with a way to describe what I've done in my current job on my resume, cover letter. part of the problem is, I haven't really done anything, that's why I'm looking for a new job!

    nevermind, I just realized that if I apply, I could get an interview, and there's no way I could fit in a suit. I really liked the sound of it too. I wish I could buy clothes. it's a stupid problem that ruins everything in my life.

    That's a really sad reason to not apply for a job you like. I'm sure there are suits out there for bigger people. Most of America is overweight, so they make them.

    I don't fit in the "special" ones correctly either.

    I still really want to apply, but what do I do if the phone rings and they want me to come in?

    Correctly? You've said you're what, 185 before? that's really not crazy. You realize many men weigh close to this, and can range from 4-6 feet?

    no, I'm a good 195 at least- I gained weight over the 7th month course of being a vegetarian. turns out that with a certain medical condition I may or may not have, being a vegetarian is the worst thing you can do (but I don't really look that fat. I mean I look fat, but not 195 fat)..and I'm a woman. women's clothes only come in regular sizes, which are too small, and plus sizes, which are too big (plus sizes aren't just bigger clothes, they are cut differently than regular clothes, and often designed for older women).

    So get them tailored.

    Why not get the clothes now and get them tailored now instead of waiting for the day you have an interview and immediately turning them down because you "don't have anything to wear" (cause no woman has ever said that before).

    How men would understand? I hope you're using that word like in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, referring to humans. You can get clothes custom fitted. Ever see a movie where they are measuring the person from shoulder to shoulder, waist to waist?

    Sure you don't know if you'll ever get an interview, but wouldn't it be nice to just have a nice suit? I wish I had one.

    And yeah, I know Rygar, it will probably go 20 pages, but really, GTD, it can't hurt to drop some money for a grand suit that fits you perfectly, especially if it could get you out of your current job, right?

    If you bought a suit this evening and had it tailored (and it is AMAZING how much they can tailor it) it would be ready in a week to 10 days tops.

    Get your ass to Nordstrom and they'll take care of you. :) Fit your biggest part, and the rest can be cut down.

    If you know you will be job searching, go get a suit so that you have it ready when an opportunity comes up. On the other hand, maybe its best that you makes excuses, and just sit there and perpetuate your pity party.

    yeah I figure I'll have to start working on it immediately, which of course would suck if I don't get an interview! (or even if I get one and then don't get or don't want the job). ugh it just does not sound like fun at all.

    eek nordstrom...they're at the rich people mall. how much do think I'd have to drop on a suit there? I don't want to go much over $200...

    crap, I just remembered I have to go a symposium monday and will have to come up with something b-cas for that too. I HATE clothes, I really do. they cause me more stress than anything else in my life. even when I was thin they stressed me out, it's like 100 times worse now.

    You could also try bloomingdale's. I know they tailor stuff quickly as well (because I worked there) but I recommend Nordstrom because they are more obsessed with customer service and I would just trust them more to have your stuff done on time and done right.

    I think you should be able to find something for around $200 but I think a good suit is worth spending a little more on. I know you would at Bloomies. Definitely don't limit yourself to the suit department, either. I have no luck when trying to buy "a suit". I tend to have to go bigger on the top because I'm shaped like an apple with legs, no matter how fat or thin or in-shape or out-of-shape I am...so, I buy get separates in the collections that are designed to go together but can be purchased separately. Calvin Klein is a good one for suit separates. I know they used to have that in Bloomingdale's, but I haven't been in one for a while so I don't know if that is still the case. It is cut generously and goes up to a 14 or 16.

    There is one at the Chestnut Hill Mall. Well across the street from it.

    good luck! I get stressed out when I'm shopping for something specific, but if you just ask for help at the stores I mentioned, that should make it easier.
