Wow. This is saddening. I hope she gets better soon.To Someone Who Needed To Move Their Car:"Congratulations! You win,you get towed!"-E.V.

Why not start a thread for everyone that has cancer? I mean I think it's terrible and all that she has it and I feel for her I do (hits home) but what makes her special?"I am ahead, I am advanced, I am the

Very sad. I've been hearing about way too many women in their 20's and 30's being diagnosed with breast and cervical cancer lately. Very frightening. There's a light when my baby's in my arms0
-
When I saw this, I thought, "ooo, her Mom had breast cancer." How frightening. I hope she does well with treatment and makes a full recovery.
I know that I, having had breast cancer last year, am always interested in hearing anyone's story of it. I don't get offended when celebrities breast cancer is headline news. It just keeps people thinking about it, and yes--knowing that younger women DO get breast cancer. I was 34, with NO family history.
Take care,I still want you all to "take care"--I am just damn tired of typing it.

Sorry we didn't realize you've done so many TV sitcoms yourself....
easy mistake to make...Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

I heard that on CNN also. I hope she will be ok. She's so young. They said she will be on a TV show in September called "Stand Up to Cancer" that sounded like a benefit for the illness."...like a word misplaced, nothing said, what a waste.."

Again people find out everyday that they have cancer, it big news for ANYONE to hear. Cause she was on TV it's big news?"I am ahead, I am advanced, I am the

You really hear it louder in the media when it is a younger woman. I think a lot of people still think of BC as an "old lady disease"--something our grandmothers get. I was only 34 when diagnosed. A lot of people also think that BC is curable--it is highly treatable, but is never termed "cured." I was Stage 1, but it could still come back, even with all the treatment I did (surgery, chemo/Herceptin, radiation, anti-hormonals). You can be termed "cured" when you die of something else. I hope she does really well with treatment--a lot of younger women aren't offered MRIs, but she did because her mother had BC. I could go on and on, but I won't.
So, I get what you are saying--like, why shouldn't the fact that I had BC at age 34 be on the news and garner support from around the world? I am just not a public figure, and it wouldn't be all that big of a news story. Just the way it goes.
The women on the BC board are glad to hear that something is made public like this (though CERTAINLY not happy that others are diagnosed--we just wish it would go away for good). It brings attention to it. BC already gets a lot of attention, but that's because we women are really loud!!!
Take care,I still want you all to "take care"--I am just damn tired of typing it.

you gotta relax. its not "big" news. its "newsworthy" because people know who she is.....it is especially newsworthy to those of us who grew up wondering why our penis' were getting hard while watching kelly bundy at the age of 9 or 10! ah youth! it is also newsworthy to many of us who do not associate breast cancer to someone of that age. it brings awareness.
plus my aunt's partner has breast cancer also. but i didnt feel the need to start a thread about her because nobody here knows her.
i'm not a celebrity gossipy type by any means. but when one of them who i like comes down with something like this, i feel like passing that along because its newsworthy to other people with like minded interests.
if, god forbid, eddie vedder develops throat cancer and we start talking about it in here, are you going to get all pissy? do you get pissy anytime anyone talks about mike's krohns issues?
point made? alright then.www.myspace.com0 -
Awwww, that seriously sucks ass!
I like Christina Applegate - she is one of those pretty and quirky women that I don't want to stab in the eye with a spork! (there aren't all that many of them)
I actually like her!
this sucks...I hope she makes a full recovery.IF YOU WANT A PLATE OF MY BEEF SWELLINGTON, YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO PAY THE COVERCHARGE.0 -

hope she gets well soon.
cancer is one fucked up thing.. our governments spend billions fighting a man in a cave and yet we cant cure cancer?
fucked upoh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.0
