thats a true statement...all Cowboys fans not from or living in Dallas ARE bandwagon fans...PERIOD...but thats an arguement for another day....
not really true at all. I was born in watertown, ny, and started rooting for the cowboys in 1983. I have pics of me wearing a Tony Dorsett jersey, and a little crappy cowboys helmet. Somewhere my mom still has my White/White (Danny/Randy) poster (which was my last name), and I even rooted for the Cowboys when Steve friggin' Pelleur was their QB. In fact, a strong argument could be made that if I chose to root for the Giants or Bills in the late 80's/early 90's I would have been more of a bandwagon than sticking it out with the Cowboys. Sure there are tons of bandwagon fans for any successful team, but just making blanket statements like that is dumb. Almost as dumb as putting a hurt Jason Witten in the game instead of Marcellus Bennett...just saying.

so rooting for the team when they were 1-15, and 3-13 while the Giants were winning the Super Bowl, and the Bills were starting their run means nothing? Huh...your logic mirrors that of George W. Bush, good luck with that.

i guess i need to hear your definition of bandwagon, because to me it means just choosing whichever team happens to be the best at a particular period of time. So when I was young that would have been the 49ers, Bears, Giants, and Bills. The Cowboys got worse when I started rooting for them (which was when I was 3), which would show that your argument has more holes than swiss cheese.

Well as a bandwagon fan of The Pittsburg Steelers since their first SB appearance in the 70's and one who NEVER jumped off even in the lean years, I take offense to your statement Sir. I live in Columbus , Ohio and given the choice of NFL teams from my state I of course chose a winner. The Pittsburg Steelers.

nope my dad is a bills fan, he just let me choose my own team. according to academic studies the bandwagon effect is that to be a bandwagon fan is to root for the popular local team, b/c that's what everyone else is doing (most of my friends were Giants/Bills/Jets fans)...OR root for a team that has a lot of success during one's formative rooting years (went to the playoffs at best between 1983-1991) OR rooting for a team through prolonged failure (they sucked in 1987-1989 but had a history of winning). Of those three my choice to root for the Cowboys as a young kind between 1983-1989 living in NY fits none of the above. In fact you rooting for the Eagles is more bandwagon according to scientific studies than me rooting for the cowboys, because they haven't won shit and they are the popular local team. Try again. ;)
