    for those who say that wyatt earp is more historically accurate, etc...honestly, i just don't care. i didn't see either film for a real history lesson, wasn't looking for a documentary....was looking to be entertained.


    of course, all simply differences of opinion, but for ME....kilmer was/is the BEST doc holliday. period.


    i also remember the timing of both films in the theatres, and how wyatt earp was supposed to be so brilliant, etc....and i think? overall tombstone did just as well, maybe better? at the box office, and even critically......bit of a draw at best. just sayin'. both really food flicks, but kilmer alone tips the scales for me. as far as earp...i have no love for russell or costner, probably both the weakest links in each film for me.

    I like Kilmer...his performance is applauded more because he is more well-liked than Dennis Quaid. You put the performances side-by-side and Randy's brother puts Val to shame.

    i completely DISagree. i like both actors, very much so. as i already said, it's obviously subjective opinion. i think kilmer did a better job, and even moreso...i think the part WRITTEN for doc holliday in tombstone was simply a better character than the one in wyatt earp. the only way to truly *judge* either actor would be if they played the exact, identical roles of doc holliday. may be the same historical figure, but quite different figures in each film. i enjoyed tombstone and particularly kilmer, far, far more. that's it. it has NADA to do with *liking* him more. however, i will agree that he is considered a better actor than quaid....and i'd probably have to agree with that assessment. however, quaid is a damn fine actor too. kilmer, to me, is simply a notch above. anyhoooooooo....the ROLE of doc holliday in tombstone was simply far superior imo, thus why i like it and kilmer so much moreso in it.
