why?
i watched some glastonbury/reading footage today... and i've noticed it before but today it annoyed me... if i was in the crowd and couldnt see my favourite band due to the South African flag being waved 4 feet in front of me, i'd be mightly pissed off.
its up there with the whole 'lighters at a slow song' thing for me.

oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

we were in the 'pit' at the Madrid show last year, about 15 feet from the barrier I guess, everyone was getting hyped as the band came on...then these dudes decided thay wanted to hold up a Portugal flag in front of us
Before you could say 'big strong angry guy from Brazil', Claudio nailed it and let them know in no uncertain terms that they were not, under any circumstances to raise it above waist height for the rest of the show
I came, I saw, I concurred.....0 -

why wasn't I near Claudio at Wembley .... 2nd row behind a whole row of Portugese flags

Ah well I'll know who to stand next to next time
So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?0 -

thats sorta unlikely unless you are either deaf or you turned up on the wrong weekend for the festival.
why not just say "at a festival id be more pissed off if i couldnt feel my heart beating."oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.0 -

I only take mine to use as cover should I end up streaking at any point during the show. Not only that, but I NEVER use my own countries flag. I dont want to be known as THAT guy, so whenever possible, I try to blame it on another country! Otherwise, POINTLESS and just RUDE!!
Never, ever, flipping forget

My friend was going to see Eddie last night. Since he was in Vegas, I gave him 5 Grand to gamble with. I told him I wanted it all to go on Black. Bastard! PhillyCrownOfThorns-11-2-120 -

taking another country's flag is a good idea actually... then if i did something stupid and annoying folk could come on here and go "that guy from the Democratic Republic of Congo was a total fucktooth wasnt he!"
i'm slightly confused to why people even take a flag and then wrap it round them... have they forgotten where they live?oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.0 -

For a minute there I thought you said flags....Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

Hahaha I did that at the west palm gig. My reason was, jsut once I wqanted to be that asshole with a flag at a gig. It was fun though. By pure coincidence we had a canadian, Irish and venezuelan flag in a row. For the most part it stayed in my bag. Came out for Grievance though

ive seen some people use it as a clever system. like bringing a rare flag to a festival (rare in that u wouldnt normally see it at a festival)
the last 2 years a werchter there were a group with a vietnamese flag on a tall pole which they used to find each other across the festival site - great idea - u cud see it from miles (subtle exaggeration) away.
other than that i dont get it. i dont have a problem with it though. its kinda cool to see people from tons of different countries far away come together for a gig0 -

There was a lot about the Wembley gig last year that I didn't get, the flags included. What was with the uberfan, choreographed clapping and pointless applause while the roadies were setting up? I dunno. I cheer when I hear the good music. I can't be doing with all the other stuff.0

Esther's here and she's sick?
hi Esther, now we are all going to be sick, thanks0 -

Or, in the case of Reading Festival this year, the sound was shiiiiiiiiite. Couldn't hear a thing apparently, although I wasn't there.0 -
The people who take flags to concerts are a pain in the butt, especially if you're behind them. Must be some sort of identity crisis. I think of the Portuguese at Wembley. Did they think we cared where they were from?
Even more puzzling are those that wear football shirts and Union Jack shorts on holidays.
Wankers!!!!!0 -
It's part of my costume for overseas shows.
Seems quite hard to carry around a full sized costume to shows across a tour. I believe the cow guy only does Boston. Some day I'll figure out how to combine a full suit of chainmail armour with backpacking, flying on budget flights with a tight baggage weight limit. I'm not even that patriotic and wouldn't be caught dead waving that flag around when I'm right here in Aussieland. For fucks sake, it still has the fucking Union Jack on it. The next time I take that with me, I prolly should cut out that top left corner before I wave it around.
Screw having a regular rectangular flag. We oughta be the first country to have a flag that's missing a corner. Saves having to redesign it.Binary solo..0000001000001111000011100
