'In my vastly superior opinion' - I like that. :D

It's not hippie shit. I just think that people were talking about not trundleling (Is that a word)? along in life but having a goal - In my vastly superior opinion.

the thread was about 'finding yourself and your purpose'.. how you construe that into "having a goal" is your business, but those are 2 separate things my dear... the former being hippy nonsense and the latter being a reasonable mindset.

having a goal is just a good way of empowering yourself... 'finding yourself' just doesnt make any sense... no-one's lost!!!
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

Tell that to someone with schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, or (insert psychological condition here)... many people have no idea how, or where, to find themselves.

  • You have no self or purpose until YOU create it. I really don't believe there's such a thing as a "calling"...like something is waiting for me and I just have to pick up on it. No. Your life is what you make of it. If you want a purpose, then make one for yourself.

i did tell it to a schizophrenic once, but i got sick of having to repeat it ;)

But that's what a good counsellor/therapist should be doing; helping someone who doesn't have the tools to 'make themselves' to, erm, make themselves. Some people need some help to come to that realisation. That's what the counsellor's for.

I think some, very few, people have true callings. it's like "true love". It can happen, but it's not likely it's going to, so don't kid yourself.

hmm... something about chivalry? I can't even remember. I just have to put you on ignore everytime you change from wanting a good debate to your sole mission being getting me to admit I'm wrong, I don't see ANY fun in that for either of us, besides I'm never wrong :) . Then after a couple of days I take you off.

i'm not saying people with genuine mental issues shouldnt get the appropriate help..

but a counselor isnt going to help you 'find yourself and your purpose' and its delusional to think they will.
