Anybody else not looking forward to Christmas?

    Not for me. For me, it's about family and trying to brighten up and make the winter a little less miserable with lights and whatnot.

    I haven't enjoyed Christmas that much for that past couple of years. I get most joy by giving gifts to family and friends. I never get what I want so I never care about getting gifts. Also being single plays into it to I'm sure. The holidays get me down cause well they just do. lol

    Yep, but every year of my life I've spent christmas with my family and it's always been my favourite day of the year. Yep, there are really cheap flights home... but most of my family won't be there and it would depress me even more to be with half of my family or only one. It's always been for the kids but now they're the other side of the world.

    I WILL go along Dunk and I'm starting to condition myself to it... and I do really really like his family... but it's not gonna be christmas :o unless I get really really really drunk. Me and Jody were talking about hiring out santa/elf costumes :D I think something like that would be fun.

    normaly I love crimbo just my lil family doing our things spending time with the kids eating playing games very chilled BUT this yr my mum is coming :( she is not a relaxed person and will not like the way we spend christmas so I am NOT looking forward to it.

    It is!! Sure it will be different but at some point you were going to have to do something different. If it wasn't this year it would be next as presumably the boyf wouldn't have to do 'your' christmas every year and you wouldn't want to spend every year apart.

    Variety is the spice of life ... you're going to get to experience something different ... and next year you'll probably go home ... and in a few years you'll probably decide you want to have it just the two of you or invite everyone over to yours :)

    Time to start making your own traditions together ;)

    Go get yourself a mince pie and go christmas shopping ... it's time to get your self in the mood :D

    Christmas for me gets less and less exciting each year. We used to go batshit crazy for gifts, I'd pile all of my stuff in the corner and then go return 95% of it in the next week. Now I realize that's lame and don't even care to get gifts really anymore. Now we do the drawing names out of a hat and buy for one person. It was always stressful having to buy presents for people when one is on somewhat of a limited income. Instead of buying a bunch of dumb gifts, we all get one equal gift, less bitching.

    My parents always slide me some extra cash once everyone leaves, but I might just give it to my nieces, since they didn't get any money this year for school clothes. Economy has been too tight and I always forget their birthdays :o

    I wasn't looking forward to Christmas at all. I was dreading it in fact. But, it's going to happen whether I want it to or not and so I might as well go with the flow and try to have a good time.

    It's going to be a very different Christmas to the past ones for me too, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing. Like Chime said, it's a time to start making new traditions, ringing the changes and remembering whats important to you now.

    Your family will be thinking of you, whether you're there or not. It's different for them too. Work out what you want, what you need and then let your hair down and have fun :)

    Christmas means nothing to me. The kids are all older and I miss the mad excitement they had when they were small.

    It's a religious festival but it's all rushing about and spending stupid amounts of money for most people. Plus loads of pissheads at midnight mass.

    The upside is I'm taking my youngest to see KOL for her present.

    oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

    on a lighter note... my employers, the government, sent round an email saying that the phrase "fairy lights" is NOT to be used this year... for PC reasons... so we've to call them "poof lanterns"

    In terms of the giving and receiving of gifts, I'm not looking forward to that. Don't get me wrong, I've gotten and given some nice things over the past couple of years, but that magic from childhood just isn't there.

    In all honesty, I really just prefer hanging out and catching up with my family and friends during the holidays.

    Nice post :) I hate mince pies... but I just tried doing some shopping... BIG failure though. Just drawing a mental block when it comes to buying for everyone this year :o

    I think it's harder cos nobody has much money so we're all just spending a little bit... it's so much easier when you have a limit of about 100euro pp lol, you can buy plenty with that.

    A personal situation kind of spoiled christmas for me last year so with that situation having been corrected since then I am hoping to find a little more spirit this year.....so far though all I am looking forward to is time off from work
    All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

    They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all

    eh...I don't mean to be a grinch but Im not really looking forward to it. It's just a big commercialized friggin thing. Im sick of the influx of stupid jewlery commercial, one sappier and more corny then the next one.

    I love the message it's sending..Merry Christmas now spend lots of money on me to show me how much you love me!

    think about it this way, why should you be like everyone else and celebrate Xmas? you celebrate things when you want to and feel like it! use this day to relax and to pamper yourself :)

    :D but I LOVE christmas :D but I've only known ONE kinda christmas... I'm sure I will have a great time cos his family are great but it's kinda a fear of the unknown I spose.

    Hmmm short on money ... well your sis and family are in Oz it's summer maybe summer clothes you can buy in the sales ... they're light for posting too.

    Saving money ... if you're buying for both members of a couple maybe buy them a joint present?

    A game that can be played on Christmas day for someone is usually good.     thank you :) I don't think the drinking will be a problem... they all like a few drinks. The mother finds herself explaining to ME that she's not an alcoholic cos she has a glass of wine for lunch when we go out :D so she obviously thinks I'm not a big drinker lol. I've seen the dad drunk, the sister and I get drunk together a lot and my boyfriend has been known to actually get drunker than me :eek: . As long as his sisters boyfriend doesn't take out his new truth or dare game, I should be fine :o
