Split Enz can kiss my ass for all I care. Wankers chose to do their first reunion show in Australia over NZ. If PJ ditch NZ this time round I swear i'll never give another dollar to anything PJ related EVER! We've waited long enough down here.

They definately owe you after just releasing their best work in several years, working really hard over the last 4 to make it. Seriously I cant believe people think they're owed everything, im just lucky I get to enjoy their music and it'll be unbelieveable if they come.
Sometimes I cringe to think they might read this board...

I personally dont think it was their best work. Good album but not their best work. I just think it's bullshit that they'll play all these Australian dates and not take any time for their NZ fans (granted they still might announce some NZ dates). Surely they could come up with an option other than Vector. U2, The Stones etc. did.
  • What I meant was I think its better than Binaural and Riot Act, so best for 8 years on that logic I guess.
I think the venue thing is a bit of bullshit too, seeing they're now playing festivals and they are pretty out of and aggressive GA crowds. Supertop sucks, I dunno bout Ericcson and how did Western Springs go for Rolling Stones? I wouldnt know..
Joe had the best answer, athletic track at Lloyd Elsmore in Howick..then to Basalt (bar up the rd) for Summer Ale. Cant beat that.

what about that new place up in Manukau?

I was on the hill at the back for the stones and it was fine. It just sucks that these bands that haven't been down here in ages wont come because of one stupid arena. I mean it's a longer trip from Sydney to Perth than it is from Sydney to NZ and they're still bloody playing Perth! They even played Perth last time!

    FUCK YOU PERTH!!! (lol)

I dont think that Manukau place is ideal, it just seems like a giant cultural events centre. Think its more like a basketball court that wouldnt hold too many..
North Shore doesnt do concerts now appparently, I actualy always thought the Caketin in Welly would be not bad..ah who cares play at the sweaty stinky Supertop for all I care, just dont let me miss out on front row.
And having read the Rock newswire, it doesnt say there will be no NZ show. It just says they're having difficulties at the moment. Good to see there will be a DVD later in the year though, thats cool.
And anyone half pie excited that there might be a reformed Alice in Chains concert at some stage? I know it says its a world tour and doesnt guarantee anything, but id be over the moon if that happened...even without Layne

I agree Western Springs is an option - but it was an option in 03 and they didnt take it. So I doubt they would this time

I still think vector will be ready......

Can't see them in Australia because...

    a) It costs about $500 return + accommodation and it's spare money I don't have.
    b) I'm fairly certain all shows are sold out.

Werd to the stones, they were pretty awesome. PJ Would kick ass doing a November concert @ the Springs. Imagine how awesome it would be to see them start @ dusk and finish in the dark.

At the end of the day, the issue is this - PJ want to play here in a decent indoor venue - that is their call.

Why cant they? because we have a stupid ressource management act that prevents decent infrastructure from being built - or gives neighbours too much say.

I do not want to see Pearl Jam at Western springs with all its resource compliance issues - ie low sound early finish etc.

Maybe if auckland had decent local/central government these issues wouldnt be as significant a barrier to quality entertainment as what they are.

Go to melbourne, check out its highways, its venues, dont be jealous because their government/private sector has invested the money, ours wont so we miss out

    simple

I think Mere would be happy if the played at the Bowl of Brooklands. Then we could have the after party a her place.
  • Hey,

I just wish you guys would chill,
Im in Toronto, and i got to meet the band (not boasting or anything), But every one of the members were adament that they were coming to NZ.. Eddie seemed excited about it quite frankly...
Listen... Just relax... its on the tour guide...
Theyve only just announced the portland show right ( and thats only 1 month or so out) so anything is possible...

Its going to happen...... keep your heads up high...
you know what... ?? Its possible that they do the St James... and do it over a week (like the 7 worlds) thats can be turned into a seated venue..and think that would be an awesome show for the 10 clubbers . and ed liked that venue... although i doubt that they would do it....

All im saying... is stop with the negativity... its still 4 or so months away...
i remember they announced the Yield tour like 2 months out... (obviously after months of speculation like we are having now)

It will happen guys and gals!

  • No mention of anything interesting from Neil Finn on Sainsbury's weak ass talk show, unless there was Split Enz touring remarks after I turned off that crap after the 1st break. New Zealand just has to face that we cant do talk shows, watching Letterman every night its clear theres only one king.
Whats the chances we might be the first place to get Big Wave live? I know Ed loves surfing out here so itd have meaning, and unless a coast town like Cali or if Aussie gets it then we could be in. Long shot I know but id love to hear it.
