Add another vote to the nays....running shoes come equipped with padding and support, none of which the Chucks have.

I can speak of bad running shoe choices and had the stress fracture in my leg to prove. A 170# man running in ultra-lite shoes designed for a man topping out at about 120#=bad move on my part.

my feet hurt after wearing them to PJ shows. I also once wore them on vacation to denmark and suffered with blisters all over my feet the whole time.

I have a very cool  pair of Converse one star, they are good for looking excellent in, but not running in.
    I came, I saw, I concurred.....

So I need to get a new pair of running shoes and I saw someone at the gym today wearing a pair of Chuck Taylors while working out. Are these actually good shoes to work out in? Enough support, well priced, etc. These are technically basketball shoes so I guess they can't be that bad.

Anyone else use these to work out/run? Good? Bad?

    No way.
Technically basketball shoes when the Celtics were wearing hotpants to play in.
If you are just doing weight training, then fine.
But don't run in them. The money you save will be used for the foot dr.

You'll injure yourself in so many ways. Probably hurt your knees, even feel pain in your lower back, maybe even get plantar fasciitis. The answer simply is NO!!!!

I'm a competitive runner (train around 40+ miles per week) and I can tell you that nobody on here can tell you what shoe you should wear. Everyone has different feet. You may need a stability shoe or a neutral/cushion shoe or something else. If you're serious about running, I'd go to your local running store (that is if you have one) such as Fleet Feet or Road Runner Sports (I prefer Fleet Feet). They have experts who will do a much better job at fitting you into a running shoe than the people at Sears, Target or most of those athletic shoe stores in the mall. I love my Brooks Radius shoes, but I also love my Assics Cumulus shoes, too. But I never would have found those shoes if I didn't try getting fitted from the pros at my local Fleet Feet store.

Do yourself and your body a favor and find the running shoe that feels best on you. But DO NOT attempt a work out in Chuck Taylors! Those shoes are not athletic shoes in my opinion.

Shaweet Lordy! I wouldnt wear those shoes to run in, I dont think the styles changed sinced they were invented by Chuck in the 1900s. Nike has come a lot farther with cushioning and whatnot.
