I honestly didn't know he had a new book. I enjoyed A Million Little Pieces, even if Oprah spanked him over it.
I might just have to check it out, and then get off this board to have time to read it0 -

Thanks for that! Sorry, Trix, I should've done a search.
It really frustrates me that people judge him and don't even know the details. Yes, he made up some stuff ... but it's not as thought the entire book was a fabrication...small things were changed (i.e. the amount of time he was in jail).
He's a damn good writer and I wish people would learn the truth behind his "lies".This is the greatest band in the world -- Ben Harper0 -

I personally thought that My Friend Leonard was a hundred times better than AMLP...and, a big part of it takes place in Chicago (where he lived)...you'll recognize alot of the places (i.e. Taco #2 or something)This is the greatest band in the world -- Ben Harper0 -

I loved My Friend Leonard. I was so pleased that he continued his story.
I gave her a lambasting after that show. I was so mad at her whole "How dare anyone cross the Oprah" attitude.Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome

I *HATE* Oprah...and not solely because of this. She thinks she's the boss of the world. Did you dig MFL more than AMLP? And...how much did you love that he mentioned Maya (his wife)?
P.S. My friend lives in NYC and walks dogs in "Jim's" building. They talk books and he thinks JF is a great guy. Makes me like JF even more! This is the greatest band in the world -- Ben Harper0 -

I just bought A Million Little Pieces. I haven't read it yet, but already read the first chapter. I don't care whether he made the whole thing up and sold it as truth or only "lied" about a few details. I think he's a great writer, and that's what counts for me.
Of course, as I've said, I've only read the first chapter. So who knows, I might hate it.THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!

Dozens of characters pass across the reader's sight lines—some never to be seen again—but James Frey lingers on a handful of LA's lost souls and captures the dramatic narrative of their lives: a bright, ambitious young Mexican-American woman who allows her future to be undone by a moment of searing humiliation; a supremely narcissistic action-movie star whose passion for the unattainable object of his affection nearly destroys him; a couple, both nineteen years old, who flee their suffocating hometown and struggle to survive on the fringes of the great city; and an aging Venice Beach alcoholic whose life is turned upside down when a meth-addled teenage girl shows up half-dead outside the restroom he calls home.
Throughout this strikingly powerful novel there is the relentless drumbeat of the millions of other stories that, taken as a whole, describe a city, a culture, and an age. A dazzling tour de force, Bright Shiny Morning illuminates the joys, horrors, and unexpected fortunes of life and death in Los AngelesI really screwed that up. I really Schruted it.0
